      Vis Day 1

A travel blog entry by kas19 on Oct 20, 2014

I awoke to the church bells chiming. Ryan rolled over and informed me that the church bells had in fact been chiming every fifteen minutes all night. We ate our customary breakfast of yogurt and granola and packed a bag for our boat tour that day. We met our guide Neno near our apartment and hopped into his boat. Our first stop was a tunnel built by the Yugoslavian army which housed submarines. We learned that the island of Vis was a military base for many years and was just opened to ...

The quality and size of the boats in the harbour and the number of people around was quite impressive.  It is a bit flashier than the other towns and I didn't like it as much for this reason. We then went to the nightclub with Ryan and Cheryl for more drinks and dancing - the place was pretty quiet so we were able to request ...

We arrived in the city of Vis which was beaUUUUutiful, we docked up right on the main street, we pulled in infront of a couple eating breakfast at a cafe so we were a real treat for their people watching. After breakfast Dal must've been dying to hop into pooey water again after 2 days of crystal clear so he dived in to save a girl on our neighbour boats sunglasses for 200 kuna.

      I walked around the ...

      Visiting Vis

... were there in the early afternoon so we had a good amount of time to explore on our own. Some of the others hired bikes and rode up the hill to the George Fort, but we were on a relaxing buzz (more like Jason recovery buzz) and walked down to the beach. The beach was really nice even though it was rocky pebbles instead of sand and one of the only 'beaches' we visited that we would consider a beach (the rest of the 'beaches' were cliffs or sharp rocks straight into ...
