From lunch we “hustled” (read waddled) back to the hotel to pick up our bags to make the 2:30 bus back to Heraklion. ... Museum held Minoan artifacts, primarily those found @ Knossos by the excavator Arthur Evans. Lots of great artifacts, and they even allowed photos. Although, not in all rooms – as some artifacts are unpublished so photos were not allowed. We breezed through the building in about an hour, as they had the statutory section closed for renovations. Off to Knossos before closing time!

Antonia kindly took us to the local markets this morning. The vegetables are superb.. I know our vision is slightly clouded by excitement.. but they definitely are very good quality as we get to taste now & then. You are so right Manuela...self catering is going to be a struggle to slip back into! There are 2 microclimates here for growing fresh produce.. the plateau in the mountains & the low areas near the coastline....all year ...
