I picked Vicki up at 6:30 a. for our 8:50-10:10 a. American flight to New Orleans. We parked at FastTrack, were picked up by their shuttle before we could even shut our doors, and were at the airport, through Security, and drinking coffee and eating muffins ($6.50) by 7:50 a. We departed and landed right on time, took a taxi ($34) to the Intercontinental, and were in our room (1119) by 11:00. Our room was lovely. We had two double beds, armoire w/TV, minibar, desk, small table, one chair. We ...

Up at 8:30 and out to walk to the World War II Museum (945 Magazine St.), took about 15 minutes, sunny but still cold and windy. There is a coffee shop attached to the museum and we stopped and had wonderful hot tea and muffins. I had African Apricot tea and a banana muffin; Vicki had the Orange Dulce tea and a cranberry ($6). Thus fortified, we entered the museum. We had a coupon for $1 off and we were charged the senior rate so our ticket was only $6 ea. We loved this museum! The print was ...

We had to get up at 6:30 since we were taking the plantation tour and would be picked up around 7:45 a. We had made reservations on-line with River Road Plantation Adventures (www.plantationadventure.com) for a tour of Oak Allen and Laura's Plantation ($65 ea.). This company uses 12-passenger vans instead of a big tour bus and comes recommended by the Smithsonian, Lonely Planet, Travel Channel, and Yahoo. We were picked up promptly, we were a compatible group of 12 . . . Maria (from Colombia)...

Our last day. Up at 8:15, check out was at 12:00 so we could leave our bags in the room. We were out by 9:35 and headed off to the Hermann-Grima House (820 St. Louis). It was sunny, warm, and humid . . . around 66° . . . this was the weather that had been forecast. We were walking along Royal, found 819, found 822, no 820. We stopped a lady and asked and she didn't know. So . . . we switched to Plan B . . . we went to the Gallier House (1118 Royal). (We later found out that we had the wrong a...

Brunch buffet at the Court of Two Sisters

We just finished eating brunch buffet at the Court of Two Sisters‎. It cost $28/person. The food was just ok, nothing too special. The live jazz was just ok too. There was turtle soup, so we tried some. It was really salty though. We ended up paying $70 for 2 persons after tip. I didn't think it was really worth it, but it was not that bad either. If you want to try it, I would say just don't expect too much.

New hotel, InterContinental New Orleans

Just checked in. I'm really happy to be able to stay in this hotel because it's a pretty nice hotel. I will have my training in this hotel starting tomorrow. On thing is though I was hoping that InterContinental is not going to be like other hotels of the same class such as Hyatt, Hilton, or Marriott. I just don't get this whole thing about having to pay for internet. Common, that should be included. Anyway, I'm going to relax today. I don't think we will go anywhere anymore.

Dinner at Oceana Grill

Just got back from French Quarter. I went with a few people that I just met from the training to eat dinner. We walked on Bourbon street for a bit then we decided to eat at this place called Oceana Grill on Conti Street. The food was pretty good. We ordered crawfish and I ordered a special Ahi Tuna. All of them were good. I was actually hoping to see the St. Patrick's day parade, but we didn't see it. Maybe I just didn't wait long enough.

Dinner at InterContinental Hotel

Well today I didn't do anything interesting. Just training the whole day. Tonight they provided dinner though. I really like the food in New Orleans, they just taste unique and different. For dessert, they had praline cheesecake. Man, it's awesome. I never had it before, and I don't think Cheesecake Factory has it. Anyway, we have a test tomorrow, so need to study....

Riverboat Gambling Theme Party

Tonight they have Riverboat Gambling Theme Party. It was pretty cool. They also have alligators around. Of course the food is always good. They gave us a chip "worth $2000". Well of course it doesn't worth anything. The cool thing is they gave us a poker set.

Beautiful, Perfect Location InterContinental

from prissyshay
Wonderful, Just driving around comparing it to the look of other buildings, newly renovated. I booked a regualr deluxe double room memorial day, and it was more than perfect. Marble bathrooms, gorgeous lobby, outside garden/lobby area. The rooftop pool kinda sucked, no view of anything at all. My room also had a view of the parking garage next door which by the way costs $20 a night compared to the hotel's $30 rate. I did not use my car all 3 days. perfect distance, 5 minutes walk to Bourbon, Casino, shopping, riverwalk. Far away from noise and horrible smell of bourbon. Even at 4am when we stumbled in after walking the whole of bourbon, it was still not a tiring walk. The hotel's ambiance makes you feel like u are in somewhere much more luxurious than new orleans. By the way, i was on 7th floor, no water pressure problems.

Great Hotel

Stayed 4 nights in the lovely hotel. Hotel was clean, which is more than can be said about New Orleans. Staff was pleasant and helpful. We had a problem with a light and the TV remote, both corrected immediately. Room was very spacious. Just a short walk from the French Quarter. Would recommend highly.

Dishonest, no customer service

Ran a special on Travelzoo, then refused to honor it without apology or explanation. This is customer service at its worst, and most unlike the IC brand of service.

Great Hotel! Perfect Location!

Fantastic Hotel! We arrived at noon (well before scheduled check in) we were warmly greeted and immediatly checked in to a fabulous room! This hotel is in the perfect location. Well within walking distance to all New Orleans attractions. We walked everywhere! The French Quarter, The French Market, Harrahs, The Aquarium were close enough to walk to. We took streetcar into the garden district for lunch (Commander's Palace- Yum!) and were able to catch the street car less than a block from the hotel. Room service was available 24 hrs a day- You call and they'd say Good Evening Mrs. Short what can I bring you ? Fluffy Robes, Well Stocked Mini Bar! Need I say more! My only disappointment was that the roof top pool ws not open 24 hrs.

Stay here! You'll love it!

Really nice hotel

from A TripAdvisor Member
I stayed at the InterContinetal for the Jazz Fest weekend. I was really impressed with the staff, very nice and professional. Drawback was the beds were extremly soft and we found a roach, alive and well, crawling in the bathroom. I think they need to have the place fumegated someone else mentioned a roach in another post. Overall the hotel was really nice.

Great place to stay

from nctarheel06
I stayed here for 4 days in November for a conference and was very impressed. I had never heard or stayed in an Interncontinental Hotel before, but I certainly would again after this trip. They were doing some remodeling so the downstairs entrance didn't look very nice at the time, but once I arrived at the main lobby, I was impressed by the marble tiled floors and walls and the gigantic flower arrangements. A coworker told me that you could order most any newspaper to be placed at your room the next morning for free. I didn't have a chance to test that out though. The hotel stay included a free breakfast buffet and let me tell you, their buffet is wonderful!! The restaurant has a beauiful sunroom, the staff are extremely attentive, and the variety of breakfast foods and fruit was much better than any hotel restaurant I had been to before. They even had salmon and capers. The rooms were very spacious, clean, and comfortable. The sink and bathroom areas were marble tiled as well. My only complaint was that it was not in very close walking distance to the French Quarter or the Convention Center.

It would take maybe 3-5 minutes by car to get to these places, but around a 10-15 minute walk to the Quarter and a 20-25 minute walk to the Convention Center/Riverwalk. There was a free shuttle when I was there for the American Academy of Pediatrics Conference, but I don't know if the hotel normallly provides a free shuttle. Overall, an excellent stay!

Beautiful place!

Our trip booked through Expedia went smoothly. The package deal including our flights and a 3 night stay at the 4 star InterContinental Hotel in New Orleans (business district) was wonderful. Our only disappointment was a minor one. When we checked in we re-stated our request for a room with a balcony (had requested a few days before arriving as well) and were basically told those rooms were for the guests that had paid more for their rooms. We knew we had gotten a great price on our package, so we could understand, but it was disappointing to have it worded back to us in that way. But otherwise, the hotel was awesome. Everyone there was friendly and helpful, everything was clean and beautiful, and 4 star it certainly is! We were a couple of blocks walking distance to Canal Street, and then into the French Quarter. We walked everywhere, but the hotel sits on the streetcar line if needed, and they'll get you a cab in a jiffy if you want one. We would highly recommend that hotel if you're looking for something swanky and nice. Fluffy bathrobes, beautiful room, and great services available if you want or need them.

Rooms excellent, but some other problems

from leftwing
The sleeping room I had was spacious, spotless, and well appointed--couldn't be better. I even had a balcony, which was nice to sit on. However, there were roaches in the meeting room (I was there for a meeting), which I found just unacceptable. The hotel has a lot to offer: great location, good employees. It's quite large, so there isn't a cozy feeling. It's frustrating that the lobby is on the second floor and you have to take an escalator to get to the elevators.

Will Stay Again!

from A TripAdvisor Member
Wonderful hotel. I stayed with my boyfriend and several of our friends stayed for 3 days as well. EVERYONE loved it. The hotel is gorgeous and the staff is so pleasant. I would have enjoyed staying in and having room service deliver all weekend. But being that we were in New Orleans, that would have been a waste of air!!! This is a great hotel with great service and gorgeous rooms, lovely, lovely, lovely. Thanks and will come again.

Hotel intercontinental fabulous

this hotel was wonderful! professional yet friendly staff, luxurious rooms (we received a free upgrade even though our reservations were through hotwire). The gym was top of the line. We mistakenly booked breakfast at the veranda restaurant, meaning to book the jazz brunch. we were already seated and beverages were served when we realized our mistake. no problem. we were given the beverages gratis and booked for the FANTASTIC jazz brunch an hour later! booked via hotwire, rooms were 86 + tax. Room service was prompt, elegant and delicious
