... but with the wind, the smell wasn't too overpowering. The water did feel GREAT. ....getting out was not great. BR-r-r-r-r-r!!!

From the lava field to the hot springs, you are reminded of Japan's volatile geography. Earthquakes, volcanoes, hot springs.....the earth's crust isn't very thick around here or at least it has a lot of holes in it around here!

Day 13 - At Sea

At sea today as we head for Tokyo. The ship filled up with fresh water at Muroran so they don't have to run the desalination plant sailing past the neuclear meltdown.

Lazy day today to catch our breath. Ordered room service for breakfast then went back to bed.

... city. It was very nice to have someone handling where we were going and much smoother than had we of been on our own. As part of the agreement of the tour we only paid for her transportation to and from the train station and the entrance fees to the places we visited. In effect, it was like traveling with a 3rd person but she knew a lot about where we were going and told us about it once we got there. We even remembered to bring her omiyage, or souvenir, from Sapporo.

Shirataka means white hawk.
