... speciaity"fischbrotchen",a bread roll with about 3 pieces of slimy,cold fish.Don't mention to Roger ,he is still trying not to gag after eating one! The islands are a different and interesting envirionment,prime holiday spot for Germans,with very few English speaking visitors . We enjoyed riding bikes along the canals in this interesting small town but are starting to yearn for Phillip Island again and looking forward to moving on to ...

... offered to buy Tim, the student, a drink & change the money that way, but he had to study (a conscientious student) & told us to take the details from his card & transfer the money when
we could. What a hero! There ARE some good people around.

Got back to the car, where we'd parked alongside a dyke, on a grassy verge next to a few other vehicles only to find the others gone and a parking ticket for 82 euros on the windscreen. ...

And so, Farewell Scandinavia!

... ve mentioned how bike-friendly it is in Denmark, but the local cyclists are just a few steps short of mad, with their overtaking manoeuvres, pushing to the front of the queue, etc.

But in Copenhagen, we had a great few days cycling around, we did many of the typical touristy things – saw the Little Mermaid, did a canal tour, found the BEST ice cream shop in Copenhagen, visited the Fortress, the Cathedral, the Naval Museum, cycled in ...

The Netherlands completed.

... this area has the highest level of unemployment & many young people leave to look for jobs elsewhere. This means that many local businesses have to close. The lack of supermarkets en route, as well as the fact it was Sunday where everything is closed-we had to resort to having broth soup made with a single stock cube and porridge for dinner!!

All in all we have thoroughly enjoyed our cycle leg through Holland and look forward to new adventures in ...

... at the University! After almost a week of sunshine, it rained on Easter Sunday, so we stayed local and started to explore Exeter. There is a great group of volunteers who do free walking tours and we did an Intro to Exeter tour and then we visited the Exeter Cathedral. Normally, you have to pay an entry free to the Cathedral but because it was Sunday, it was free! Score!! Normally, I have to drag Nick kicking and screaming into a church, but Exeter Cathedral ...
