        Week 27 French Riviera

A travel blog entry by stuandamanda on Jun 15, 2015

... out of Nice for the next four nights, we arrived, yay it had a pool. Splash!!!!!!! Thursday June 18th The roads were supposed to be real crowded around Nice, so we figured we'd use their new park'n'ride. Geez, it took ages to get there. The motorway to the park was as busy as, there were two tolls on the seven mile stretch that were queued up, and then we had to park, and then we had to ride. It wouldn't have been so bad but the riding bit was on a new modern tram that seemed to stop ...

... should have limited the time we spent in Cassis and Grasse instead! So it was a mad rush for the lift, irons, showers, etc and somehow we all managed to be back on the bus by 6.05 looking spiffy and ready for another adventure. The drive to Monaco/Monte Carlo was oh so gorgeous and I found myself having some more of those, 'I can't believe I'm here....I'm so lucky' thoughts. Here we were travelling along the French Riviera on the same roads as Princess ...

... back down for a dip in the sea before heading back to hostel. A quick change and we jumped on the train to Monte Carlo to check out how the rich people live. I was a little disappoint that only one of the super yachts currently in port has a heli pad but still pretty impressive. A quiet Friday night before we pick up our hire car and start 3 weeks of driving the coastlines of France, Spain and ...

        A morning in Monaco

... get to the airport for flight boarding at 6:30 AM. Why do I always schedule these flights so early???

It's been a fantastic trip with a ton of memories made and it leaves us both hoping that we can make it back sometime soon. The whole trip was a whirlwind, but these last few days in Nice felt like we had a chance to wind down a bit, even if I was attending the conference at times.

Better get to bed. That 4AM call will be here sooner than I realize.

Well after almost a year of travelling and 20+ AirBnB apartments, we've had our first disaster....not quite a disaster, but a BIG misunderstanding. We always book 'Entire Home' on AirBnB, because we self cater to try and manage our budget. We also like to have a bit more room then you generally get if you stay in a hotel room. We generally select apartments from listings in English, but this time we chose an apartment advertised in French, because there were no others ...
