After a terribly delayed flight finally managed to enter Kathamandu. It was an errie city after the Royal families assasination. The Royal Nepal Airlines flight from Delhi was cancelled however the airline people had been kind enough to put me on an Indian Airlines flight after I requested them even though they had offered me a Hotel Room in Delhi.
Kathmandu, Nepal odzer... shrines, rick-shaws and more importantly, friendly and welcoming people you will ever see or meet. It's an extremely infectious place and quite the opposite to Pokhara which we leave for on Friday.
Will add more to this blog in the next few days, internet time running low!

Peace
Kathmandu, Nepal emeric.bensaci... t know her music.
Or maybe they do – you can get a pirated copy of ANYTHING here for
$6 – including new releases.

Thamel
(the area where we are staying) reminds us of the town in Star Wars
where Luke meets Han Solo in that crazy bar. It has a reckless on
the edge feel. Saying Thamel is crowded is an understatement. There
are so many hawkers that it's hard to know where to go – we are
looking for a trekking ...

Kathmandu, Nepal timcarrier... was "dzt, dzzzzt, dzzzzt, dzt, dzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzt. Kathmandu, Nepal joannabee... and can't just hose them down as they enter. ;) KP laments how a country with one of the largest water supplies in the world can run out on a regular basis.

Speaking of outages, the power went out again. It also went out in the school the other day when I was teaching the grade 4 class. The things we get used to in the modern world...

By the way, for those who want to see tons of my pictures of Nepal, go to my flickr page:
http://www.flickr.com/photos/jojobee/
Kathmandu, Nepal joannabee... His holy men in orange chums told us he was 110 years old and we later recognized him as the same guy photographed on a retro postcard we had bought earlier so maybe he was famous in the seventies, who knows. We walked up amongst the jungle of temples, sculptures, lingams., monkeys and shrines to the Gorakhnath Temple which has a giant trident then back to watch another ceremony in action.

We crossed the river and headed to the caves that were still being used by ...
Pashupatināth, Nepal inoursuitcase... in a few lines of 'Welcome to Nepal'-- for my benefit I'm sure), the maid brought out a plate with uncooked rice and some money for the bards.

I ended up leaving for Kathmandu on Sunday (rather than Tuesday as originally planned). Limbu didn't seem too keen on the Nepali lessons, and he was often too hungover during the day anyway. The TMI was getting a bit much, and I was getting a little bored. But mostly, it was just time to go.
Godāvari, Nepal globehugger... been planning to go on what is know as a trek (actually I had been planning that, Michelle had merely consented after many hours of 'discussion'). Trekking is the lifeblood of the economy here. People from all over the place come here to walk on one or more of the famous trekking routes around the hills of the great Himalaya and some of them even go on to climb a peak. 'Trekking', whilst sounding like a hardy and adventurous undertaking involving ice picks, dried ...
