Up at 6am to ensure we get through the rest of Sardinia and across to Corsica before dark. Once again little wind so we motor on up and cruise through the Maddalena's. Very pretty and lots of large expensive yachts floating around. Making good time we head across the Bonafacia Straights and into port. A very unique harbour and hopefully time to explore tomorrow morning before we head off to Minorca - it's all go here but have to keep moving whilst weather is good for ...

... s menu of the day consisted of vegetable soup with bacon, veal with potatoes, carrots and squash, and for his last selection he had three pieces of melted cheese on fig bread with a fig jam to go with it. It also had a side salad, which he has always enjoyed after his meal. Of course, all of this was shared between us. They then brought us an after dinner drink which neither of ...

A travel blog entry by eldonsteeves on May 23, 2015

I was tired of ham so we got pickled sardines and a pickled mixed seafood salad. Both were outstanding. We also got some brie and bread. And of course we had a nice bottle ...

... outlying islands and others vary from an hour to a couple of hours. We didn't want to spend a whole day on the water so we went for a short cruise that would show us the main things. The main things being amazing caves, grottos and islands. We went fully into one grotto, I thought I was over my cave "thing", apparently it doesn't apply to grottos. Having just seen how huge chunks of the cliff face can fall ...

... spectacular. It's limestone cliffs rise from the sea and it too has a pretty special harbour entrance at Bonifacio where the ferry berths. Corsica has been fought over between the French and Italians for many years and the remains of an old fort guard the entrance to Bonifacio's narrow harbour. Our hotel is located in the old town, high on the cliff face that looks down over the "new" town and harbour. Again, this ...
