Not sure what all the fuss is about...Santa Margherita wins our vote.

Back at Scooby for lunch of bbq chicken wraps and biscotti for dessert, then onto the autopista to lovely Lucca.
... is either way this town is the only connector to Nice where we want to go or Milan to get to Paris. We visit the ticket counter 5 times in 2 hours each time finding out new information for our situation and having to leave to pondering our next plan of attack. It becomes comical when each time we attempt to make a decision and go back to the ticket counter there is atleast one new staff person. I will have to continue this later because a lady needs this computer.
... of the city and had the BEST focaccia bread ever! After we left the group we had lunch at a little place with outside cafe seats and it was terrific. Rachel had a spicy pizza, Il Diablo and I had a zucchini tart. Then we wandered back to the ship and now Rachel is at the gym and I am updating my blog! We are a lucky group here! Tonight is casual night thank goodness. More to come!

Destination 404

km197'196

A wonderful winding route via a inland section have lead me from Pisa to the coastline around Genova. But since in that part of the environment it was very hard to find a spot for bushcamping I took the toll freeway to prevent to get stuck in the chaotic traffic of Genova and headed north into the highlands of the northern region of Genova. A beatiful spot at the top of a mountain has provided perfect views to sunset and sunrise, but a bloody cold night!

There are two more blogs coming from me. The cars of Europe and how you drive them. Let's touch on driving first. I know that many of you have driven over here, but for those that have not, here is a little insight.

Munchen (Munich) is a big city a lot like Denver. Normal looking highways and roads of substantial size and width. It was a good place to get accustomed to driving in a foreign land with new signs and traffic lights and rules ...

Cinque Terre, Italy

... the Cinque Terre with it being an express train only stopping in Monterosso. I had read in Rick Steve's that the hike from Monterosso to Vernazza was the toughest and I thought I might as well get it out of the way first. Lee had warned me that it would be difficult for me and he was right. Each of these towns is very small with typically one main street so you can walk the towns easily in under half an hour. In Monterosso the town seemed overrun by tourists and I ...

... of coastline nestled against the mountains. Geographically, it's not a great departure from the ruggedly beautifully cities of the Cote d'Azur. Architecturally, it's fascinating. Instead of the rather uniform porticoed baroque of Turin, Genoa's buildings are a mix of Gothic and Renaissance buildings, many of which have been left to decay (rather charmingly, actually) over the past fifty years. Apparently it was the ...
