Another road trip today, this time to Lugano in Switzerland to visit Gilberto's aunt for lunch. Today we headed for the lakes, which were a half hour drive from our north Milan base.

Lake Como had been identified as the prettiest and as we passed the town of Como, we headed on up the lakeside to Tremmezo, where we wanted to stop at Villa Carlotta.

We're on our way to Italy for the next month and stopped for the night in Bellinzona in the Swiss Alps, we are only an half hours drive from Lake Lugano which we'll visit tomorrow. The first snow of the year fell last night, but I don't think anyone here gets to excited about it, as most of the hotels seem to be closed until the 4th December!

Our hotel served a wonderful breakfast buffet with the gorgeous view of the lake. The lake was cut by a glacier and is 1200 feet deep. It's a beautiful teal blue color and there are swans and ducks all around. ... something on Martina's computer (which he also did 3 years ago!), we went together to "Locarno on Ice" - the ice skating rink that has been erected in the main square of Locarno. Well!!! Turns out Matthew is a natural - he used a penguin that he could lean on for a few laps, then took off. Tom also got the hang of it, but Georgia is like her mother, and was very nervous on the ice.
