Since having the children, this was the first Christmas holiday Peter and I spent away from friends and family so we tried to find magic anywhere we could. Here is what it looked like for us.

As soon as December began, we were off to one of the oldest churches in Vieux Lyon to enjoy a very moving ...

When a green run turned blue and we were faced with several rather steep drops, ridiculously considered 'slopes' the talked about confidence quickly disappeared. The train was fuller than last year, that's because we're in the last couple of weeks of the Summer Season, so there's still back packers heading south. It's quite a long train ride from Paris to Milan and will take you about 7 hours, but it's pretty cheap, costing about 45 per person. After we'd stopped at Modane, which is ...

... Genoa is an extremely busy port city and the traffic is murder! 15 Klms west of Genoa we found a 'parking lot campsite' in a coastal village / resort called Arenzano. After a 300 Klm run in the 'truck',.. averaging some 65kmph,.. we were looking forward to 'cocktail hour' to end the day. Arenzano looked like a lovely, typical Italian /Mediterranean resort town in August,.. people everywhere in holiday mode,.. cars parked anywhere and everywhere and busy,..busy,.. ...
