I have been to Istanbul very often more than 20 years ago and I have to say that this town has improvements everywhere. A really worthwhile city to spend more days. Enjoy the metro and trams as means of transportation

Armée d'une seule et même carte depuis sarajevo, une american express qui ne nous permet pas de retirer d'argent mais juste de payer nos courses, nous continuons notre trip balkan.

Veliko Tarnovo was a great stop for us. A lovely chilled hostel, free t-shirt, a fort, and a waterfall. What more could you ask for? We took an early morning bus from Sofia and got picked up by a guy from our hostel. The people running this hostel were really amazing. They constantly had friends coming over to hang out, made us several lunches of sopska salad and sausages, and even organized a trip for four of us out to a swimming hole with a small waterfall to jump off ...

This morning at breakfast Dino had to look after Shona for a bit, bringing her tea, making her toast, not because she was actually sick but because of last night and what she got up to with the rest of the guests.

After dinner and watching Bulgarian folk music videos in the hostel, we all decided that because it was our last night together we should head out to a bar, granted it was 11.45 on a Sunday night. Well with small odds of something being open ...

Bulgaria is mostly Greek and Eastern orthodox, so we got to celebrate our second Easter Sunday. At 11pm the bells rang out into the night to call the monks to mass, and some of the group rang in Easter with a candle-light ceremony in the chapel, but I was tucked away in bed by this point!

... highly polluted rivers which really stink, but since the town is so high above it you dont notice unless you put the effort into getting down to it. At night, if enough tourists have paid for it (a Japanese tour group did the honours last night), they put on a big laser show which runs for 45 minutes, lights up the whole fortress and can be seen from all over the town.
