Inspired by everyone's food envy! Enjoy all the pictures. I can't even think of my favourite meal so here is random photos of food! Actually the most amazing and most memorable two meals have been the one I Pompeii Italy cooked by an Italian lady for our whole hostel and the meal cooked at someone's house after our rafting in Montenegro... Oh hang on the chocolate kebab in split and ...
... back home to change and go out for the night. To get us in the mood for the night, we decided to play some music & have a mini dance party in our room which was fun! Dez decided that she was going to stay in instead of coming out with us. So the 4 of us headed to a club called Apolo which was apparently the place to be on a Monday night. We walked in and started by getting some drinks at the bar. This club was interesting... The ground floor was dub step and upstairs ...
... 1-1/2 hours to get inside. We just didn't have enough time to wait. Got back on the bus & toured more of the city but still didn't get to see nearly enough. We did walk down Lo Rambla And have lunch. Then had to catch the shuttle bus back to ship. Had to be on board by 4:00 and we made it at 3:50. We did like Barcelona, just didn't get to see much of ...
Barcelona is as irresistible as [insert hot-man crush], in my case Ryan G. It's lively, warm, well-kept and very entertaining. Sadly we are already half way through our three week love-affair. *Tear.
We arrived in Barcelona on Monday (Feb 11) and settled into our apartment, which is located in El Born. Walking through the tight alleyways of El Born you'll see that it's packed full of tapas restaurants, galleries, boutiques and bars. You will also notice that ...

Historical Traveler Reviews Icaria Hotel Barcelona
We stayed for 5 nights at this hotel in May 2005. The hotel staff greeted us as we arrived and were very helpful throughout our stay, offering us advice on places to see and the best way to get there. Our room was on the top floor, it was spotlessly clean, very spacious and modern with great views of Barcelona and was amazing for the 89euro a night we paid. The hotel is located 5 minutes in a taxi from Las Ramble costing approx 5 euro. The beach is about a 10-minute walk. Overall we really enjoyed our stay and would definitely come back to this Hotel again.
Great place for the price!
We stayed at the hotel for 4 days while in Barcelona. The hotel is very cute and modern. Great size bathrooms, and very modern furniture. It's also in a great location as far as walking to restaurants, Port Olympic, and there is a bus station outside the hotel.
There are a few recommendations I have the first is very, very important: Don't order a hamburger from the restaurant or for room se rvice. They charge you ALOT and if you are American you will not like the beef they use. You can feel the tendons while you chew and it tastes horrible. Try to get a room as high as possible due to the street noise. Room service will be stingy with the towels so you may have to request more.
Overall, a good place for the price. We payed $125.00 American dollars per night.
Classy, modern Hotel
The Icaria is a very shiny, modern hotel within 5 minutes walk of Port Olimpic and 25 minutes walk of La Ramblas, but it is in a peaceful location, one block away from the beach front.
Staff are attentive and speak good English. Rooms are large and ultra modern, with wide-screen TVs, hifi, and very spacious bathrooms.
Free high-speed internet is provided. (I view high-speed internet as almost as important as a bed in my room these days!)
I stayed for a 2 day business trip, but I would imagine that the Icaria would make a great base for tourists that don't want to actually stay in the noisy melee of La Ramblas, but want easy access to the beach and tourist areas.
The Icaria is certainly the nicest Hotel that I have used in Barcelona over the past year.
Good hotel an staff.
New modern hotel, good sized rooms, large beds and clean. Breakfast - good variety from fruit, cereal, meats and cooked items. Friendly and helpful staff who can speak English. Quiet location, for trips into Central Barcelona use Bus Turistic, stop is a couple of blocks away, short cut via Shopping Mall to the right of the front of the hotel. Stop is under the two tallest blocks in Barcelona. 30 minute walk into the La Rambla along the sea front, a pleasant walk which can then take you into the main areas.
Great Base to explore Barcelona
We spent 4 great nights in Barcelona. The hotel is 10 minutes walk from the Metro station. The breakfast had a good variety of dishes, (cereals to meats). The staff were very helpfull. Hotel is quiet a night, but still a short walk to busy Port Olympic and 30 minute walk to Port Vell. Loved the Old Town tapas bars, well worth a visit. Beautiful city, hope to visit again.
As soon as this hotel gets the little issues worked out, it will be a flawless place to stay.
I have just returned from a weekend in Barcelona. This hotel is superb, in a great location(for walk into Las Rablas or Getting the Metro) Staff were more than friendly. I would stay here again on my next visit. Very close to the bars and restaurants of the Marina and the Casino.
Hotel was very good value.
As a Scot and an honourary Yorkshire woman, I couldn't miss the chance of staying in a brand new 4 star hotel on a '5 nights for the price of 4' deal with Superbreaks!
A great new hotel
We spent three very enjoyable days in Barcelona (from 15 Jan 2005), staying at this brand new 4 star hotel. The Icaria is situated in a quiet residential area in the Olympic Village . It is only about a five minute walk to the very lively Olympic Port, with a wide selection of bars and restaurants. Central Barcelona is a 20 to 30 minute walk. The rooms are very nice with large comfortable beds and well equiped bathroom.
The staff are very friendly and helpful, and the breakfast buffet is excellent
