Our 15-hour flight from San Francisco to Sydney was behind us. But, we had the 6+ hour flight from Sydney to Denpasar, Indonesia to go. However, it didn't depart until 5:45 PM, and we had arrived in Australia around 6:30 AM. What to do? We booked a day room (in advance) at an airport hotel so that anyone who needed to rest/sleep, had that option. Also, we could leave the bags in one place and take a look around if we wanted to. My 17-year old son, Evan, stayed in the hotel room, and the other...
Sydney, Australia busyness Day 1: 7 June 2009 (Sunday)
This trip was planned end of 2008 with 4 other families and only 3 families could make it which included ours. However, 3 days prior to departure, 2 families decided to cancel the trip due to the H1N1 virus which at that time Singapore didn't have any serious cases and Australia was getting more and more cases! Mommy was very 'shocked' and sad over this matter but thanks to Daddy's support, our family decided to continue this trip believing God's protection ...
Drive north of Terrigal to The Entrance, the way into the coastal lagoon. The weather is grey and cloudy. We walk on the coast and have a wander in the town (pound shop city). My phone has stopped working. The local phone repairer says that it needs reprogramming and will take 2 days. It will have to wait until we get home. If there is anything urgent you need to contact us about please phone Janice's mobile or email. Back to Terrigal where Janice has a haircut and looks wonderful........... ...
Sydney, New South Wales, Australia travelburnettWe are in Sydney, Australia. The flight went well and we were able to get some sleep. It is now February 19th and we "lost" February 18th. Since that day didn't really exist, maybe I didn't need to book it off as a vacation day. We were able to check in early to the Ibis Airport hotel about noon and clean up a bit before heading to downtown Sydney by subway. What a nice transit system. By early afternoon the temperature was over 30 degrees but not muggy. We are still trying to acclimatise to ...
Sydney, Australia ysandrayFriday: We managed to sleep about 12 hours and awoke to a hot sunny day. We left the hotel mid-morning and headed to Circle Quay by subway for a huge breakfast at a wharfside café overlooking Sydney Harbour. After buying Tim a new hat to keep from burning his head we walked to the Sydney Opera House-it really is beautiful. The temperature by now was close to 30 degrees so we sought some shade under the trees of the Botanical Gardens where I had Tim pose with the resident Centaur (see pic). Mi...

... attacks since it was put up 50 years ago - don't quite see the logic there either!) That evening we met our friends for drinks at Darling Harbour and then went on to a open-air nightclub in the city centre called the Ivy. Saturday, Ryan and his girlfriend took us to the world famous Bondi Beach. We had lunch at a seafood restaurant overlooking the sea and the outdoor Olympic swimming pool in which the waves lapped into to. We then headed on a short walk along the ...

Sydney, New South Wales, Australia mikela... not comfort. Unfortunately in the race itself, Quantum Racing's early prospects of winning the handicap were ruined when some flotsam broke their rudder. We also had a very enjoyable and hot day at another harbour side attraction, Tarronga Zoo, a very fine zoo with the added attraction of super views across the harbour to downtown Sydney. Anne greatly enjoyed this and particularly the endearing koala bears. John also enjoyed an exciting day ...
Sydney, New South Wales, Australia john2112... aircraft. Dad thankfully pointed out that the first bottle I had selected was corked....to challenging opening on a plane. So I found a screw cap bottle instead. While Dad wondered around I sat at the gate making a phone call. Straight to answering machine. I left a message, it went something like this; "this is (raised voice) ALEX BROWN, (everyone turns round, I look at crowd, in particular this blonde who laughs), sorry that was louder than ...
Sydney, New South Wales, Australia broony79Well I'm writing here from the free internet cafe at Sydney airport thanks to the good people at Samsung. It's 20 minutes until boarding and I can't wait! Have said goodbye to family, handed over the apartment keys to Josh (my replacement for the next three weeks), and am almost starting on the first leg of my trip. I think I've realised how pathetically thing my jacket is, but at this time there is little I can do about it. Enough contemplation... Japan, here I come!
