Historical Traveler Reviews of Hotel Ibis Myeong Dong Seoul
Good time
from Dusty1-11
I got a good deal of 112,000 won including breakfast. We flew in late on 25 Jan and stayed until 5 February. Very helpful. Stayed in room 1825 which has a good view of Seoul Tower.
Only real problem was the heater in the room. We couldn't turn it down, so the room was always too hot for us. Asked reception, and they said it works on a whole floor basis, so there was nothing they could do. What we ended up doing was as soon as we got in the room, we made sure the heater was off and then opened the window up. It made do.
It is a great location. There is an underground shopping mall easily accessible, which basically takes you all the way to City Hall out of the weather - good find. Lots of places to eat nearby, and it is a very vibrant area. About 20 metres walk down the road is the Shihan bank which will give you a better exchange rate than the hotel, but make sure you bring your passport.
There is a 24 hour shop near the Shihan bank too (Buy the way). The mini bar is a little small and we found it hard to put in two two litre bottles of water. Nothing is in the mini bar when you get there - it is the IBIS.
No real complaints. The laundry room was a bonus. 1000 won for a load of washing and 1000 won for the use of the dryer and 500 won for washing powder. Some of the staff didn't understand English very well. Our wardrobe door was a bit sticky too. Would have liked to have BBC World news and not jsut CNN as well.
Compared to where I stayed out at Doksan last time I was in Seoul, I would recommend the Ibis to anyone who is looking for a quality room at a decent price.
Still looking for a real nice korean hotel

Okay, but impersonal. We still look for the nice real korean boutique hotel
Great hotel, great location

I was surprised to find such a hotel for the price I paid. It is a true 4 star hotel and maybe it should get 5 stars considering what I paid. I had the room 1835, which had a nice view, although I know they have better views.
PROs:
- Great location, next to restaurants, Mall
- 5 minutes walking from the Shuttle drop point (Actually the hotel offre a service shuttle that drives you to an alternate pick up point for the Airport Shuttle
- Free Internet
- Free adapters at the Desk
- Great Price. I paid 119$ USD per night, including Room Tx
CONs
- No Iron. But maybe this is the norm in Korea?
All in all, highly recommend this hotel.
Great hotel

The Ibis Myeong-Dong is a great place to stay in Seoul. I was there for three nights, and enjoyed the comfortable rooms and excellent location.
The rooms have everything you need (although no bath, but no problem there - the shower is good), with cable TV (Korean, Chinese, Japanese and some US channels), fridges and comfy beds. They are on the 10th-18th floors of the building, with the lobby on the top floor (19th). Great views at night of the surrounding area and Seoul tower.
The location is great - in the heart of bustling Myeong-Dong. Plenty of shops, places to eat, nightlife, etc. Metro station about 5 minutes walk, Starbucks 2 minutes, HUGE Krispy Kreme Donut shop 2 minutes, cafes etc. for breakfast - ideal! Conveneince stores on the doorstep. Also just over the road from the Lotte department store, with its massive basement food court.
Getting to the airport is easy - a shuttle bus to Incheon leaves from the Hotel Lotte (5 minutes walk) every 20 minutes. From Gimpo, I took the subway - also easy.
About 20 minutes walk to Insadong, 30 minutes to the palaces - but you can always get the subway.
Seoul is a great city to visit - Koreans are very friendly people, and made me feel very welcome! The food is amazing too.
Love the View and the Style
from ellyme
The hotel was a new just recently opened hotel. It was so clean with such a city style. The check in is on the 19th floor along with the cafe, buffet, bar, gym, sauna etc...Especially during the night, the view is really nice. It's not a 5 star hotel, but it was a really high service providing hotel with new facilities and great service manners. There are a lot of Japanese tourists but the hotel was quiet compared to the hotels I've been to
Good value, great location

Just come back from a 4 night stay at Ibis Myeungdong. This is a new conversion of the top 10 floors of a building directly opposite the Lotte department store, so very central. I don't generally have high expectations of Ibis's but this one was exceptional. Keen, friendly staff with good English (not something you take for granted in Korea). Good breakfasts, a small gym, free broadband (they give you an ethernet cable), clean, comfortable rooms and overall very good value. My firm has just booked it for a small conference.
Friendly hotel
from chanyvr
A small hotel accessed from a small alley. Very
friendly staff. Very good rates for Seoul. Lots of
amenities: free laundry, free internet, free breakfast,
free safe, small fridge, water cooler. Fairly good
size room for two with two chairs and small table.
Korean style room sleeps four on the floor.
Conveniently located, only a short walking distance
to the subway and about 15 minutes walking distance
from the Myeong-dong and Namdaemum shopping
area. Limited spoken english but email's are fine.
Many japanese tourists.
