Our diving adventures had come to an end, so we jumped on a ferry/bus combination to get us to the Thailand capital, Bangkok. It was a long, arduous and very tiresome day. Not much to report, just the same old, random cow in the medium strip, road side markets, bad roads, crazy drivers and a bus driver that thinks he is Michael Shumacher. I don't think I have ever been on a bus that big (it was a double decker) that actually overtakes cars. We arrived safely in Bangkok at 9pm. We disembark fr...
Bangkok, Thailand erinandlukeAs a unexpierienced backpackers, we've decided to get an internetional hotel network, btw. the cheapest ever Ibis I've been to. Huge disadvantage, far away from the center, but aircon could be a useful thing, especially @ the begining of the trip. NB: Always take a location map from the hotel! Your taxi/tuk tuk driver will never know where is your hotel, even thou you'll be standing 5 minutes away. Note: The entry type is set to Map Pin Only. Any text added to this field will be saved but wil...
Bangkok, Thailand jarosz.dawid “The first condition of understanding a foreign country is to smell it.” - Rudyard Kipling
I can definitely smell Bangkok. Traveling through the city is almost as much a nasal experience as it is ocular. From the stench of sewage to the heady fragrance of flowers, the scents here run the gamut of olfactory sensations. Some of the moments I've most enjoyed and known that I was in a different world have been when walking down a street and taking a deep breath of some of the f...

... LOVE it and
fingers crossed I will too!
Wherever we wake up the next day we will have to decide where to go
next as we have not planned anything else. As long as we get to see as
much as we can in the time we have it doesn't matter! We are definitely
going to travel around and hopefully visit Laos, Vietnam and Cambodia
as well before finding our way back to Thailand for our flight home at
the end of February!
(Well that's the plan anyway!)

... seven eleven, I've ever entered, I felt like I found a peace of mind. It's quiet and peaceful. I felt that I was in the another world again. I also liked the feeling while I was walking in the restaurant and that moment I turned and looked back to busy and noisy Khaosan road. It's unexplainable but cool. It's like I'm on the way to Neverland. After finishing tutorial my friends took me out through the back of the restaurant. It is ...
Bangkok, Krung Thep, Thailand straystrangerAfter having to move our bags to another room due to us not booking our room the night before, we head to Siam Square in search of food, internet and clothes shops (the basic human needs). We spent most of the day blogging, as we have fallen rather behind. We have a cheap meal in the hostel, to save money to contribute towards an expensive hotel someone has booked for us :)

Yes, from virtually anywhere in Northern Thailand the only logical way south is via Bangkok, so we paused for a couple of days back in (just off) Khao San Road. We were also aware that the main sightseeing choice in the capital is the Royal Palace and, despite at least previous three visits by us to the city we have never quite managed to get to it! We decided to use the river to get around (Called the Chao Phrya for fans of Thai restaurants in Leeds!) which gives an ...
