“A good start for a holiday...”

From the outside the hotel doesn't look very inspiring, but this was the only downside to our experience at this hotel. The reception staff were friendly and efficient, and we were soon in our room.

It wasn't the biggest room we've ever had, but it didn't need to be. All was immaculate and it was well appointed, with flat screen TV and tea/coffee making facility. The bed was firm and comfortable, and the bedding clean and crisp. Most importantly, for an hotel next to an airport, was the level of soundproofing, you'd never know you were right on a main road and only a couple of hundred meters from the runway.

We didn't use the restaurant, so can't review it, but the menu looked interesting and varied.

We would happily recommend this hotel to our family and friends, the whole experience was a great start to our holiday.

Historical Traveler Reviews Hotel Ibis Heathrow Hayes

Small but good

from anonymous

Rooms were small and the general ambience a bit generic and ratty but there was quadruple glazing on the windows (I'm a light sleeper and I didn't hear a hint of any planes), it was very clean and the private bathroom was perfectly adequate.

Given that the general quality of any hotel in and around London is not too high, this one is the best I've stayed at so far. Good value for money in that market - I intend on trying the other Ibis's in the city next time on the strength of my stay at this one.

Barely adequate

from biztrav123

I stayed at this hotel to be close to Heathrow for an early flight back to the States. I am a business traveler with a budget so the price of this hotel was the clincher for me (especially with exchange rates these days). I have stayed at other Ibis hotels throughout Europe so I did not have high expectations.

I walked into the lobby and thought, wow, I guess a made a good choice. they have recently renovated the lobby and it looked great. Unfortunately that renovation hasn't reached the guest rooms. The room size met my expectations in typical Ibis fashion. However, it was exceedingly worn, shabby, and frankly, not too clean. The bathroom was a dimly lit cave. Air conditioner was inadequate to cool the room and the window was difficult to open because water leaks had caused the wallboard around it to swell, split, and grow mildew.

The desk staff appears to be comprised mostly of young people from all around Europe. Surly and unhelpful is the best that I can say. An example: I use a medical device that has to sit at bedside when I sleep. Since there wasn't an outlet anywhere near the bed, I had to ask for the use of an extension cord. The girl at reception flatly said, "no, maintenance is gone, I can't help you." When I explained why I needed it, she still refused. I asked for the manager on duty and got the same answer.

I agree with another reviewer, the buffet restaurant is pretty bad. However, the food is plentiful and the dessert bar is pretty good.

All in all, this is the cheapest room you'll find near Heathrow and it shows. Hopefully, the complete renovation of the hotel will turn this place around.

Good Value

from anonymous

We use this hotel regularly for overnight stopovers in London as it is easily the least expensive anywhere near Heathrow. The rooms are small but very well designed and quite adequate for our needs. The food services leave something to be desired. We stopped eating there after observing staff using a vacuum cleaner which had just been used on the floor to clean the food counters. A short walk up High Street will lead to some wonderful cafe/bakeries and pubs which have good food at good prices. London Transport buses are free in the airport zone so you can take the number 111 from the airport bus station to the last stop before it turns onto High Street (watch for the MacDonalds on the corner). The return to the airport is across the street.

Never Stay Again Unless really Desperate!!!!

from anonymous

Stayed for one night before taking a early flight from heathrow the next morning. When a arriving the place was very busy and the Q was not going down at all. When at the desk the receptionist was rude and not polite at all, never saying please or thank you just giving you the keys with no directions to the room, when asking to have an early breakfast i was told they do not do it! when it clearly said they did. Room was small did not feel clean and there was barely a window which let in no air at all.

Again on leaving thre reception people were VERY RUDE!!! DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT IBIS!

Adequate (barely) but cheap

from revjeff

There is a concensus about this place: It is adequate (barely) for a one-night stay, in or out of Heathrow. It is also very cheap, compared to other hotels in the area. But the food is bloody awful! And the facilities are barely adequate. Tiny room, crowded lobby, so-so friendliness and helpfulness of the staff. But they are "renovating", so that should help (maybe). And it is close to the airport (only 11 pounds for a cab). And did I mention that it was cheap (that's the only reason for staying here). Not nearly as friendly or comfortable as other Ibis hotels we've stayed at.

Awful restaurant

from Needham newbie

We used this hotel for two one-night stayovers coming in and out of London last month. On the first visit, the room was fine; on the second, we had extremely noisy neighbors who kept us up even after we banged twice on the wall (which must be paper-thin). We have stayed at other Ibis' (in France) and knew what to expect room-wise, but the restaurant was a huge disappointment - as other travelers have mentioned, the buffet is awful. I had chicken that was as dry as cardboard; breakfast was no better. The Ibis's in France are VASTLY superior (de Gaulle airport and Aix-en-Provence) - or at least they were 4 and 10 years ago, respectively, when i was there.

Not a fancy place

from emerald444

There is really nothing fancy about this Ibis hotel. Rooms are small and very very simple. But it is a very cheap choice if you compare it to the other hotels near Heathrow Airport. If you don't want to spend £200 at the other hotels and you only have to spend here one night, do give this Ibis a try.

Okay for a one night stand

from Sioux-Bee

We used this hotel as a brief stop. Our plane got in at 10:45 so we were able to take the Hotel Hoppa bus to the hotel and then we left early the next morning to go into London. The room was small but clean and quiet with a hot shower. It was inexpensive so was fine for our purposes. The lobby did reek of smoke but we had a non-smoking room.

The continental buffet breakfast was adequate. If all you want is a place to lay your head for the night, this will do.

Marooned at the IBIS

from anonymous

I was unfortunate enough to be stuck for a night at IBIS as if was the ONLY hotel with a vacancy that night. Rooms had terrible odor. Worst bed I've ever slept in. Forgot wake up call. Lobby was a zoo, with unattended children using it as a playground until midnight. Restaurant food is unedible. Dismal hotel. Would not stay again even if I had no other choice!

O.K. but . . .

from anonymous

Getting to the Heathrow Ibis was easy enough, the people were friendly and the room was alright. However the restaurant was so - so; I realize that kitchens love buffets as it makes everything easier, but the food offerings were not very good and they certainly would keep me from going there again. I'll someplace else next time even if it is more expensive.

Sitting in the Hotel Ibis in London Heathrow, having some Moet and starting this 12 months traveling off the way its meant to be. The rucksack is LARGE and very f**kin heavy, how the hell am I going to be carrying this round for the next 12 months. Lisa is already bored, she is just waiting to go, I think she needs to learn some patients. I did …

The flight into London was definitely not as fun by myself than when Ted was with me. My neighbouring passenger put up his privacy screen early in the flight so I felt quite bored in my lonely luxury. For the first time ever too, I was actually refusing the airline food as there was so much of it. So arriving in London was something of a relief too …

With only one hiccup in our travel plans so far (our flights to Victoria Falls), we were feeling pretty invincible. Very foolish, I know. But these are the traps for the unwary. Although we had enjoyed travelling to Belfast by train & ferry, the return journey from Dublin to Liverpool was an 8 hour ferry ride followed by a train into central …
