Where is everybody?

After leaving the hot humid and very sweaty Cairns our first stop down the coast was Townsville. We have decided to travel by greyhound which is a pretty cheap comfortable way to travel down the coast. Our Air conditioned bus turned up with plenty seats and movies playing for the whole journey, much better than any bus in Asia, they weren't sitting 5 to a seat and we had no live stock, it was quite a treat! The next 5 hours passed quite quickly, some of the countryside was very similar to Eng...

Mission Beach to Townsville (and some more diving)

... each of the sons of Rollingstone from each of the services; so far they have found four.

We resisted the temptation of this peaceful and free campsite as we needed to be at Townsville Marina at 7am the next morning to meet our dive boat. We headed off once again, found our site in Rowes Bay, got settled in and took a walk along the seafront to re-visit Harold’s for fish and chips! Sunset across the bay was beautiful and we saw a little of the residential ...

Townsville

... have done it again, we have run into some fellow travellers, a family that we met whilst in Tasmania (back in March). We were at the water park and it was Jacob whom they recognised of course, I guess he is just one of those kids who is not easy to forget.

So from here on we are planning to just inch our way up the coast to Cooktown, before heading back down again, we are trying to wind down before we get back to homeland.

Over and out for now! Chow.

Chocolate dreams

... ever seen with one of the most gorgeous backdrops ever which looks like it's been painted in the background! We also stopped off at Cardwell which is a tiny town right on the coast with a beautifully inviting beach.....until you read the signs about not even paddling in the ocean because of saltwater crocs!!!!

Last night we visited a night market down by the beach, which is miles long - there were ...

Mission Beach & Townsville

... raft across to the other side of the river and tied this up so the guide had to swim across river to get it and they also filled our guides helmet up completely with sun cream! After 10 minutes of trying to sort the rafts out and the guide cleaning his helmet out we were ready to roll again. we spent the next couple of hours battling more rapids which was great fun. Our guide even felt it necessary to tell us he almost drowned at one of the rapids we were passing a few weeks previous when ...

The day I got robbed and assisted the arrest....

... police are very gentle and get them to open their bag for them to go through with no effort at all.... the couple look like they're cool and have nothing to feel guilty about,... the next few minutes feel like an eternity... they can't find anything at first... but suddenly the policeman takes my camera and my phone out of the bag....

I can't help but walk to them and say with a trembling scared and angry voice :"That's my stuff!!!! that's my stuff!!!". I am shaking all ...

Visiting Townsville

... ferry over to Maggnetic Island for the day or to stay and walk around town. the conservation of my funds was the ultimate factor in my decision so i settled for a self-guided tour of the beachfront--"The Strand" as the locals call it. Townsville's vibrant waterfront promenade fluants a number of parks, pools, cafe's and playgrounds. The Strand was busy with locals and tourists alike, the major ...

Townsville and Magnetic Island

... on Monday morning, we rose early and went for a walk to go and see the nearby lagoon - which was a slight disappointment in its lagoonlike qualities, but we did see a green tree snake which was gorgeous (though slightly scary at the time as we didn't know it wasn't a Death Adder or an I-can-kill-you-with-my-eyes Python haha). We then had another lovely little walk along the beach before having a delicious brunch. In the afternoon ...
