... Mar where one can, indeed rent a car in Barcelona cheaper than from the airport, I found the office closed. At least I was able to book a reservation online and get the important costs from the brochure posted at the desk for the super insurance to ascertain that the cheapest rental car would be picking up at this hotel rather than at the airport. So we will do that. The airport has some additional taxes to pay that the hotel does not require.

In the middle of the night we heard the shouts “Viva Barcelona, Viva Catalunya!” La Ramblas is a place for demonstrations and protests. Fortunately, it did not lead to a separatist rally. People were excited that their football team won. They consider their team the best in the world and it probably is.
