While there was an English menu, fliers on the tables seemed to advertise lunch specials in Slovac. I asked my server which he recommended, and he pointed to one. After a bowl of chicken soup, out came, in true Slovakian fashion, a half loaf of bread covered in a rich sauce with a small piece of beef (or pork?) in it. I realized ...

... electric train line runs from Poprad, the biggest city in the area, and it connects all the villages in the mountains. This area is a big tourist draw, mostly for Slovakians, although some Czechs, and a few Germans come here for hiking in the summer and skiing and snowsports in the Winter. It's late October, so the crowds should be thin, but it's unseasonably warm 2 of the 3 days we're here, including a whopping Sunny and 65 at the base of the ...

      ... and the occasional Germans.

We plan to do some day hiking in a few days there and take some funiculars, trams, and gondolas to get to the top of the highest peak.

The 4 star hotel room was a great recuperation spot. We haven't had any horrible rooms so far, but we have been making sacrifices to meet our budget. The weird thing about Aqua City, and many newer European hotels we've been in, is that they ...
