We've had a great day today, helped by sunshine and dryness, even though we were a bit cold at times! We took a train to Olsztynek, about 30km south. After ages yesterday trying to work out the buses, we found we could get a train from Olsztyn West, which is closer than where the buses go from, and takes about half the time. Only cost 1GBP each, one way too. (Pricing of transport ...
... a) is cheaper, b) has its own basin and 3) isn't 1 1/2 flights of spiral stairs down to the toilet.
I've been amazed by the ease of eating, even for my weird diet. There is a cafe chain called Greenway (though Gdansk had a different one called Bioway) which is 100% vegetarian and labels food vegan or/and gluten free. ... right - it's your typical railway station suburb!!! Anyway I decided I would walk and definitely catch a taxi back. But when I walked back at 10 pm it was still slightly light and the atmosphere of the city was great - only because it was the first warm day in ages . Hundreds of young people along the river main - it was fabulous ! Could have got some great shots but wasn't game it would have been rude. Loved ...

We met a lovely couple over breakfast who told us how Poland had changed and how poor it used to be. Now it has a fabulous infra structure and is quite modern - only in some of the country towns can you see the remainder of some of the poverty. So we are off to discover some of our ancestors roots today.
