    ... atmosphere than I imagined while reading. To me it was surprisingly small for such a well known city, I got aquatinted with where everything was in relation to our hostel pretty quickly. Speaking of our hostel, it was really, really nice. We have air conditioning which was a Godsend as well as very comfy beds and very nice hosts.     Month 2 travel plans turned out quite differently than I originally anticipated. Before I departed I had no inention of heading to France, told myself I would visit another time.     After leaving Cortona we slipped briefly out of Tuscany to visit nearby Assisi in the province of Perugia. Resting place for St Francis it was sombre to visit his tomb under the church there, however the rest of the town has been transformed into a religious tourist destination. What said it all was the carousel outside one of the churches that was adorned with religious motifs...note the Francescan monks in the background. ...
