Our last boat trip in Venice. Bags and bus went very early this morning but we caught up with it. After boarding we took the long bridge back to the mainland. What an amazing two days. We are continuing our journey in Italy heading south west to the historical Assisi. Didn't know what to expect as it is a relatively small place, not a big city, and yet very significant religiously and historically. The first glimpse is amazing. Perched ...

Back up the hill ( we missed the escalator) we stopped near the basilica for a tea and croissant as it was now 12. Refreshed we walked to the Basilica of St Francis. She did take us to track 1 ( at a much too fast pace since we had over an ...

... br> Between the thermal pools, salt bath, essential oil infused showers, mud bath, and saunas, I was completely and utterly relaxed 3 hours later. A few of us capped of the visit with a spritz (an Italian cocktail), and then we boarded the bus for the two hour trip back to Rome.

This was the perfect day excursion out of the city...I made a few new friends, ate a lovely meal, and laughed my way through the whole trip!

... the word PAX in the center of this area which is translated to PEACE. There used to be a bell tower in that location but it was lost to an earthquake in 1997. Anyway, I took incredible photos of the sunset that literally brought me to tears. We then went into the Basicilia and down into the basement where we saw the tomb of St. Francis. A very holy place as people were touching the encasement and ...
