One goes to a volcano

A travel blog entry by dizzyseren on Aug 08, 2014

I have no plan but I've had a lovely sleep in my lovely little room and wake up quite late. My washing has dried thanks to the amazing person who pulled it in from the rain. So I have clean clothes!! Quite frankly they were so gross I wouldn't speak to me if I had the choice. My only plan is to walk to the train station and catch the first train I can use my pass on. This is kashishma . I know there's a volcano there. The trip down is nice, I love the Shinkansen. I should ...

It's the Kagoshima 鹿兒島 Day.

The boat docked at 7am. By 9am, we were in the bus ready to be the tourists…..The weather can’t be grimmer. Glad that we packed a spare pair of socks. It’s a rainboots day!

The volcano Sakurajima is on an island in the harbour - much like Rangitoto. Although, it isn't an ...

The reason I came to Kagoshima was because it was described as laid back. Also there's an active volcano in the bay. I spend most of the day here I had walking. First I checked out the Senganen-en Gardens. The highlight here for me was the walk up the hill at the back. Then I headed back into town and made my way up Shiroyama Park which overlooks the city. After that it was down to the harbour for a beer while ...

Dampened But Not Down

... we assumed to be disinfectant on it. Then there was a flurry of activity as two vans, and people in suits, converged at the base. Soon files, equipment and cartons (all carefully covered with clear plastic) were being carried on. We counted 32 people going up the gangplank. This was the team from Japanese Immigration.

After we ate, passengers were called by assigned group number to be screened by Immigration. When #6 was called, we went to deck 5 of the ...
