Bonn, North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany newyorklovesmeOf course, this was a bright and early tour. This was the first time our fellow cruisers got to witness my insane photographing. I was shooting everything I saw and hopefully once I start sorting the images I'll find some nice artistic ones.

Unfortunately ...
Koblenz, Rhineland-Palatinate, Germany jennyanne... it was 4 trains away to Bacharach in the Rhine Valley. We made it to Wurzburg, then Frankfurt, and then Mainz... and then we missed the last train out to Bacharach. Thinking we were going to spend the night in a train station and NOT in castle, we reluctantly asked the clerk what we could do... she handed us a voucher, said to go get a taxi, and he would drop us at our door! So we basically LOVE the German Train system, especially since it was ...
Bacharach, Rhineland-Palatinate, Germany tommcattThis is not a great adventure, more a welcome back.

It is great to be back in Villiprott to visit our old friends since the 70ies. Now I have been staying with them for two weeks and we have done a lot of different things. This part of Germany have many interesting places to visit, both nature and culture.
Villiprott, North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany erikdalSo well I on my way to Bremen I had a 2 hour stop in Koblentz and it was 11 at night. I wish I could say I went and partied hard but I didn't. I tried, I followed some spot lights in the sky but those were to far to walk to so I just walked around a few blocks and found a dinner/bar and had a few ...
Koblenz, Rhineland-Palatinate, Germany drunkendidier... middle of town. So amazing and I see why it was highly recommended in the travel book. The pictures and movies I have do it no justice. Yet after I arrived at Koblenz I had to switch trains for Trier and then traveled down the Mosel to Trier and the Mosel River was just as beautiful with many more vineyards and rolling hills. I really love traveling by train.
Koblenz, Rhineland-Palatinate, Germany drunkendidier... this point, the Rhine river, which usually has a width of 300 - 400 meters, narrows down to 145 meters. In addition, strong currents and dangerous rocks below the surface increase the risk to shipping ever since the Rhine river has been used for shipping. At St. Goars, the Rhine broadens to 250 meters. Still, the valley remains very narrow with high verticle rock faces leaving very ...
St. Goar, Rhineland-Palatinate, Germany reisenderStraight from finishing work with COLT, I went to V festival. No pics, and you can get stories directly, but I then flew straight out on Monday to meet Philip, Lawrence and Elias in Germany to catch up on Philip's stag do. The plan is a week-long tour through Epernay & Reims France (I missed that bit), Köln, Kerpen, Nürberg etc through ...
Nürburg, Rhineland-Palatinate, Germany danielringrose... trip to Boppard and were more than a little tipsy when we got off the boat.

But the view is beautiful. Castles and vineyards line the river we loved this. Once we got to Boppard we stopped for another glass of wine (€4.50 for a glass of wine with the extra pitcher and only €1.50 for a dark beer for MB) in the lovely riverside garden of a hotel. The garden was lined with roses and ...
Koblenz, Rhineland-Palatinate, Germany canadian_couple... respect than I am experiencing from some of the officials on the railways. That said there have been some truly delightful ones - the lady with the sweet voice on the French train from Calais, and the chaps with their traditional conductor's hats on the train to Liège. In fact it seems to have gone downhill the longer the day has gone on (and the more tired and out of it I have become).
