It was shocking to think that the land that we were standing on was once water. We had morning tea at a café that was high above the city. It had a good view of the surroundings. We went on a canal cruise that showed the highlights of the city from water. Then we were taken to some markets where we had some soup ...

... day in Amsterdam!! A bit of a change from the dreary bus ride in. We met our tour guide, ably named Mike however SHE was a very outspoken, funny Dutch woman with short blonde hair and complete with wooden clogs. I still don't know how she was able to walk around in them let alone take us on a BIKE tour!! We all grabbed a bike and headed out of town and into the countryside. It was quite pretty, riding along the river/canal lined with amazing looking houseboats ...
