... s life and saw some of his most famous art works. It was sad to learn he was mentally ill and killed himself at the age of 37 following a difficult few years in and out of mental asylums. It was fascinating to see artwork that was so old and they way the museum told his story, including his influences, was well done. ... so squishy, and all of the buildings very very tall and narrow. This is due to the initial taxes when Amsterdam was established being based on how wide your property was, so houses instead were build long and narrow and many storeys tall to escape having to pay more land tax. Needless to say, Sunday we we're absolutely exhausted. After getting into bed at 8am and having to check out at 11am, we spent the better part of our day Café hopping and checking out all the popular spots in the downtown area. Seeing as our bus wasn't until 10:30pm a lot of coffee was needed that day. All in all, after a rough start, this weekend turned out to be one of the best i've ever had!

We met an Australian in our hostel that we spent pub hopping with Monday evening and he told us about an amazing coffee shop we had to visit the next day.
