... back to the 16th, when one monk from Switzerland arrived in the valley. Today there is again only one monk, who runs the monastery more as a business, with a farm, horses, restaurant, guest house, vegetable garden and wine cellar. Everyone expressed their enjoyment of the ten days and their appreciation for Patrick's, Anja's and Maree's efforts. After a wet start to the Euro Alps Tour, we have been very lucky to have a few days of fabulous weather in a row. Warm enough for shorts today, we dressed and got down to breakfast ready for the day ahead. We met as usual at 8:30 am, and first on the agenda today was a visit to a museum in Sonntag, another of Patrick's mother's projects, where we were treated to a view into the hardships of living in this alpine environment. ...
... idyllic. Lunch over and we resumed our hike, luckily in a downhill direction. The last part was quite a steep descent along a narrow track that eventually lead to the main road, and more importantly our destination for the totally unnecessary cake and coffee, which we nonetheless enjoyed while Patrick and Anya caught the bus to where we had left the cars. ... houses were just like in the Heidi books and the mountains and big green grasses pastures were straight out of the Sound of Music. It was really beautiful and we stopped to have our lunch at a beautiful look out point. Then we continued up, up up the wiggly winding road until we came to our hotel which was a ski resort in winter time, literally hanging off a cliff way way up in the mountains.
