... Gruyeres which is famous for its cheese or so we thought. The village itself is a collection of old buildings full of souvenirs with lots of cow bells and cow emblazoned mugs, t-shirts and more. Not much cheese to be had which we thought was pretty strange. However there were plenty of tourists so after a quick visit we headed to our next destination. So far we'd found Switzerland a little unfriendly and expensive so we were keen to find ...

Hence we only spent a couple of hours looking around before ...

... around the northern part of the lake wasn't as pretty as it had been further south, but Konstanz itself was a nice place to visit.

We started by climbing the tower of the Munster for a view, then crossed the river to visit the Archaeological Museum - mostly in German, but very interesting nonetheless. I do wish we could have read more of the exhibits, which seemed to give lots of information about Stone and Bronze ...

    A Hike in Tyrol

... set out for our first stop in Tyrol, the town of Reutte. We were able to find a vignette easily at the first gas station in Austria; they sell them for 10 days or one year. We went with the cheap one.

After some nice driving on both freeways and secondary roads, with beautiful scenery all around, we arrived at our stop outside of Reutte. We wanted to visit some ruins on a hill outside of town called Burgruine Ehrenberg. It was a heavy fortification ...
