... the dawn the moisture in the grass would evaporate up into the engine and make it impossible to fire. His solution was to park his van with the engine over a tarp. I suspected this was what had happened and if I had taken the distributor cap off I reckon I would have found condensation inside. The problem with the VW camper is of course all your luggage sits atop the engine compartment making access a pain in the butt. However after much perserverence old Madam ...
Esbjerg, Region South Denmark, Denmark wizalll... to go to Silkeborg, since it had the highest point in Denmark,(not very high) also Annalisa wanted to go there to see the bog people. Denmark is very flat to the point of we have to find out if the Netherlands or Denmark is flatter.
Well, we got to Silkeborg and figured the front desk manager was just tired of the wind and sea, because this was about as inland as you can get in Denmark ...
Finally a new country to add to the list. It has been a while since I went somewhere new. Of course, I don't have time to spend extra days here on this short trip between London trips. And work is going to keep me busy. Hopefully I will be able to do a little sightseeing in the evenings. Stay tuned.
Esbjerg, Jutland, Denmark nahury19/5-11/5 We started our Denmark encounter with a small town called Ribe. This is one of the oldest town is Denmark and has a thriving Viking history. It is one of those old European towns with lots of small cobble stone streets and half wood houses, so very nice. We went to the tourist office and ask about a map and what we should do for the day. It ended up that we were there for the tulip festival, not much going on in the way of tulips, but lots of music ...
Ribe, Jutland, Denmark laine... a side tent were common. Some tents had decking, kitchen furniture and chest freezers! We had gorgeous sun for the first few days, then intermittent rain. This has allowed us to get a bit of a tan without getting overly burnt. Only Tor was brave enough to try the outdoor swimming pool. The mini-golf course turned out to be rather challenging and good fun. We decided on a limit of 20 shots per hole!
Tarm, Denmark gavin.porterThe trip started a mere 20 minutes late - not bad for a 3 month trip! Unfortunately, less than a minute down the road we discovered that not everything was secured sufficiently with the fire extinguisher making a valiant leap for freedom. Lacking the ability to bounce it smashed the glass cooker hobs cover making an impressive noise and mess. A (pre-planned) pit stop 2 hours later at mum's allowed the glass to be cleared up. Fed, and ...
Esbjerg, Denmark gavin.porterArrived safe and sound in Esjberg. Ferry trip went without a hitch. Nona didn't even puke! Driving on the right hand side of the road is a cinch as long as everybody stays out of my way. There are windfarms as far as the eye can see. We are staying in Ribe just south of the ferry terminal. We're practicing the local lingo before heading to the pub for some Danish beer!
Ribe, Denmark noj_ontour... many vodka shots were downed as we got ready for our 'free concert!'.... only to get there to be shot down! No names on the guest list!! Good Charlotte has now been renamed Bad Charlotte in our books... and they were to be boycotted at the up and coming Rock am Ring festival in our silent protest! Rather annoyed and red faced, we headed to the pub to drown our sorrows!! Another very late start and we headed for Roskilde to check out a ...
Esbjerg, Denmark paula_rod... pictures of light house and lied on the beach while Troels did his tour in danish. After that we got back in the car to travel the danish road all the way to Vaarne where we stopped in the center looking for the mini-city museum and had a typical hot dog something at the stand (which i took veggie.. no weiners simply). Hop at the museum where we met with the person who took us over the previous day and enjoyed a view of the city in a 10 time reduced scale... it was nice ...
Esbjerg, Denmark maplefantaDay four I walked up to Esbjergs famous big white statues by the beach, passing a memorial statue on the way remembering sailors killed in the war I think. These were miles from anywhere, and quite a long walk, but really worth it, especially the massive statues which are a great site. I passed by the docks on the way and walked down part of the way through them, but had to turn back because they really smell!! Really fish oil pungent smell! I sat on the beach and looked out at ...
