... to the Marianbrucke, or Mary Bridge, which crosses a gorge and waterfall, and allows you to look down at the castle--it was glorious. We took way too many pictures! The fall colors are starting to emerge, and it was fine! No photography is allowed inside the castle itself, so we probably over-compensated. A word about German tickets into places like these castles. Our group had tickets for the 10:25 am English tour. The tickets have a bar code. There ...

... J Dachau was difficult and for me brought to mind the killing fields in Cambodia. Overwhelming sadness for all the innocent mothers, fathers, sons, daughters, brothers, sisters. Tall peaks, beautiful meadows dotted with traditional houses. You passes ...

We had a great breakfast in a wonderful hotel (Alpchalet). We checked out at 8:40 to get to the ticket center for our castle tours. Our first tour of Hohenschangau was very impressive. It was the first castle we had toured that one could imagine living in and it had all the furnishings preserved. The walls were all decorated with paintings applied directly to the wall. The hike to the second ...

... chillier then the high 60s in Innsbruck. After lunch we went up to the top and Matt and me did a short hike to the peak of the mountain. It was so pretty but we were both freezing so we didn't stay up to long. After the mountain Matt and me went and walked around old town. It was a very historic area, with lots of shops and cafés. We had some coffee before heading back to the hotel for a short break. Later ...
