    ... is going northbound but the water level in the river actually goes down, and you do not want the boat go down the river as in a waterfall. So the boat gets into a lock which has cement walls on both sides and both the front and back gates closes and the water is pumped out to lower the boat into the proper level and keep on going forward. it is a great engineering feature for the riverboat crusing on the river.     Due to the late arrival time in Lucerne along with the inclement weather, the scheduled lake cruise we were booked on was cancelled for today and will be rescheduled for tomorrow afternoon. We hope the weather improves as there are such beautiful mountains surround us here. But, all we can see now is fog and clouds.

    ... up forty years ago. We got off at the stop we got off 40 years ago and tried to find the exact spot where we ate and watched the sailboats on Lake Lucerne. Only problem is, trees grow in 40 years time and we think we found the spot, but one lone tree had grown to obscure some of our view. Still it was nostalgic and we took lots of pictures. It was a great memory.

    ... jetty near our hotel. The lake is so still and serene with a powdery blue appearance and such low fluffy clouds it looks like a giant doona.
