... parking area right by a pretty decent restaurant just off Hwy 60 @ Archibald Ave. Coincidently, I have a UPS store mailbox I pay $20/mo. for just down the street from there. Moreover, there's a Bank of America ATM there, so I can withdraw $240 operating expense cash without a fee. If I'm reasonably thrifty, I can function for 2 weeks on that.

... morning LA rush hour and all things being equal it was not too bad. There was the usual cars on all sides about 10 feet away going 70+. I have always been a 55mph guy, but I am slowly adapting to driving at these higher speeds. For the most part the traffic moved and we got ...

... polite and only took the indicated set. Rick chose to have a look around and see what was required. The few "extras" will make our life a little easier. We also obtained 4 sleeping kits which included 4 pillows, 4 sleeping bags, towels etc. As well as a bucket and broom extras that will come in handy. Karon was a little surprised that Rick didn't get pulled up for ensuring that "The Castle" was fully equipped. So we managed to get the paperwork done and here we are ...

... questions after he ran out of all of his skit, a few people had questions, but it sort of ruined it for me. On the Jungle Cruise you're supposed to be out in the Jungle, but the skipper told us that during the 6 weeks that it had been closed, he was just working on Splash Mountain. He could have lied, and made something up about ...

... arms. But with only so few of these moments left, the arms would have to ache some more. And this was a chance to see the Castle like we all remember it from the Wonderful World of Disney. They finished the fireworks spectacular off with snowfall which as pumped from the nearby lamp posts. It was pretty much just foam. But it looked great and if you were quick (and a bit lucky) you could make a "snowball" - not that you could throw it, but you ...

Winding up

... That pretty much took up the rest of my day, so I headed back to LAX to check-in for the flight. It was pretty much a mosh pit when I arrived back at about 8 to check-in, 4 hours early, for my flight back. I then learned that check-in had been open since 4.30. I then found out why. They were individually X-raying every checked bag, and making you wait around while they did it in case they wanted you to open it.

Greetings from la la land

... pet shops. It's incredible! Although funnily enough, I haven't seen that many pets. I'm guessing their over zealous owners are keeping them inside away from all the car fumes. The car thing is stupid - I was getting very annoyed whilst sat at the bus stop, watching all these huge SUVs drive past with only one person in them. It's not surprising that the city is covered in smog. So, I've only had 3 days here. In those I've managed to go shopping ...

... in hairs of the downstairs variety), to huge antiquey-looking bed with feather pillows and satin covers. I almost choked when I saw the sauna. Spent a week just chilling out, sunbathing by the pool, eating crêpes, going for lunch at Fred Segal, shopping on Beverly Drive... you know, the usual. But the time had come for me to bid La La Land adieu. San Francisco was calling. My heart was heavy but life wasn't getting any longer. I had to dust myself down and get back in the game.

LA Style - Confidentially

... for more information go to www.getty.edu... The architecture and art collection are by far the Center's biggest draw card... I was pleasantly surprised by the amount of impressionist artworks the gallery now houses... From all reports I had been told not to expect too much, but on this occasion there were paintings on display by Van Gogh, Monet, Renoir, Manet, and Cezanne just to name a few. Actually I stumbled upon a touring exhibition of watercolours all by Cezanne. Most of which I ...
