When I went back to get the washing some Dutch ladies had finished it and dried it for us which was very nice, maybe this fainting thing was a good tactic after all. R: After our tasty watermelon for breakfast our rations were done and we needed food but unfortunately most of the Dutch shops are closed on a Sunday and I was informed that the closest supermarkets open were in Ujst (8km) and Sneek (10km). Kat seemed pretty settled so I decided to cycle over, the weather seemed nice and I figured do it before it got too hot. Found the site easily enough even though I had forgotten the address. It was further out of the way than we expected which was nice. The temperature was around 32c when we arrived so we enjoyed laying out in the shade and going for a dip in the murky river. After a bbq we spent the evening sat next to the river and watched the sunset, perfect start to our hols and we stayed in Heeg for 3 ...

... is stunning, so green and so neat. The towns are spotless and the people are friendly. When we finally stopped we had run up a distance of 75 kms for the day. This is a new record for us on our bikes, our previous being 72 kms last year in Switzerland.

... are very neat with straight lines and happy livestock. It appears that the region specializes in milk production which is, I guess, used to produce Dutch cheese. There are also a fair number of very fat sheep around that produce both wool and lamb chops.
