I did try to converse in the bar over cake, pickled fish and beer, but I am ashamed to say my understanding of spoken Spanish seems to have evaporated and my brain seems locked in French mode. I hope the 3 or so years of Spanish can be unlocked in the future - should have brushed up before I left.
