... a drunk Dutch couple from a balcony across the road, the chavy man had his top off and was wearing a baseball cap, I set off before the rain stopped thinking that Sneek wasn't that great. Another tree stop for the final shower and I was back, victorious, ish. K: I was getting quite concerned that cheetham had been struck by lightening at this point-so much so she fell asleep (only briefly)! And then with a knock on the van window the great adventurer had returned and with lunch, ...

Found the site easily enough even though I had forgotten the address. It was further out of the way than we expected which was nice. ... They are always willing to help and their Dutch language is close enough to Afrikaans that even I can understand them. The drivers of cars have a genuine respect for cyclists and always give way to us lessor mortals. When we are driving in our camper other road users are very considerate and courteous and so far "road rage" is unknown.

And so we rode and we rode and we rode. ...

... we were picked up by Nick Tol who drove us over to Venhuizen. Venhuizen is the home of our branch of the Tol family and we appreciated the tour of the town finding the Tol highlights such as where the Tol family started, the Tolleplek (Tol place) and the Tolsloot (Tol canal). These places no longer exist as they are now the location of a new house but the land is regarded as sacred land for the Tol family. We had a sensational night at Peter and Lia's who put on a most ...
