Saturday July 25 When my train arrived I got off and there was Simon waiting patiently for me. We walked about 20 minutes back to his place. He surprised me by explaining that his parents owned a 4 suite apartment building. Three of the suites were rented out to permanent tenants including himself, but one of them was usually rented on airbnb. When we got to the office they had kindly taped “Welcome Sarah Schneider!” onto the correct mailbox as well as gave us directions to the apartment from the office! We were all kind of having adrenaline rushes just from being in Brussels and traveling by ourselves so when we noticed above the mailboxes they had free offers we all took a bunch of those that ...

7am breakfast for an 8am bus departure to Ypres. Before going into Ypres we visited Hill 60, site of the covert tunneling activities of WW1, now made famous by the movie. It's a natural, undulating site in much the same condition as it was 100 years ago, except for the regrowth of trees and some undergrowth. Apart from a couple of information boards at the entrance, there is no signage or improvement on the site, so you get a better feel ...
