    ... This was the only one we have found in
    Finland but very expensive! Washing machines were in three sizes with prices ranging from 6 Euro ($9A) for the small one to 18 Euro ($27A) for the big one! And we had a lot of washing.

    We stayed at a lovely rest area about an hour out of Tampere. It was beside a little lake and the reflections were lovely.

    ... managed to park close to the city centre enabling us to walk through - different when there is no snow lying around. Looking for a coffee shop we found the covered market, actually full of busy city people taking lunch and a superb range to fish for sale. In fact this is the biggest covered market in Scandinavia, according to Pinterest - more research to check this ...

    Tampere is 150km north of Helsinki but it's not a particularly exciting drive. The motorway is empty by English standards and the route is largely through featureless forests. The wild lupine on the side of the road ad colour, with large drifts of blue and pink.

    ... consisted of a telephone that you can speak into and hear your voice played back in a creepy tone, an agility test to measure your KGB aptitude (I failed), and a bottle of invisible ink and paper. Some of the gadgets were interesting, but seemed more contrived than real. I would have taken some photos, but it was prohibited. I guess they didn't want any classified information getting out unless, of course, the extra fee was paid to take ...

    ... with places to see and sights to enjoy for spending the afternoon exploring this postindustrial city wedged between the shores of two beautiful lakes.
    Meeting back at their apartment after a days exploration, it was decided that we would enjoy dinner at their accredited favorite lake-side beach, consisting of the most delicious savory and sweet pancakes: Finnish style.
