Hévis is a funny old place. First night in, we just went out for a wander and discovered that there is the world's biggest thermal peat lake in Hévis. Apparently it is a miracle cure for all sorts of ailments. So the place is set up for, and crawling with, geriatrics who wander the streets with bathing rings wearing terry-towelling robes. Its very disturbing! Jo has been joking that we've stepped into a real-life version of the movie ...

Our maiden voyage to Hungary a year earlier had been a great success and it was then that we met Goulash for the first time, our 3 legged cat. Sonia and David have 2 similar side by side properties nestled in the Somogy County countryside. There are very few English speakers here, so if you need to borrow some milk from a neighbour it has to be done in Hungarian, which incidentally is one of the most difficult languages to learn.
