    The day started perfectly with cool clear weather and breakfast out by the river and a walk round the caravan park on the river bank. The drive to the south past 5th century ruins and steep farming land, was spectacular and then we stopped for coffee in Cordes, a world heritage listed hilltop town of about the 12th C before the unification of France.     That's it for this blog entry. Just so ya know I will probably do the whole Camino pilgrimage over only a few blog entries with lots of pictures rather than regaling you with the many stories arising from this walk. After all, it is a walk like this that inspired Canterbury Tales which this is not!

    Literally hundreds of people descend on this place to commence THE WAY... an interesting place to hang out to witness the variety of hikers, the equipment they stuff into their packs, the character of the hiking poles that take on a persona of their own... even the washing of the pilgrims is draped over the fences outside the albergues .... ...
