    ... Seeing Matt off just solidified the goal of completing the pilgrimage ourselves. We had about 3 hours to kill before the bus would come to take us out of town. Zoya and I found a patch of grass in the sun to relax. Zoya wrote in her journal and I took photos of the small daisies scattered through the grass. All of our bags in a heap next to us, we practiced yoga and soaked up the perfection of the moment.

    ... the last ride and were lead out by motorcycles onto the highway. It was quite a sight. A peloton of about 200 riders with about 25 motorcycle escorts and followed by a flotilla of support vehicles. But our hearts weren’t in it and we were glad when we finally arrived at the beach front in Anglet and the race village. It seemed a bit of a let down as they had already given us our medals!
