    I've decided how in going to start my adventure. I didn't like the cycling much, two days ago. But I enjoyed the walk from Valkenburg to Klimmen.     Matt and I headed off to the Koelner Zoo on the metro. It was lovely: very green, glass exclosures. There was a big family of elephants (about 16), 3 hippos who were having fun in the water and making loud noises and showing off their large teeth. Matt loved the orangatangs (the babies were playing) and the cheetahs (who were prowling up and down). A flock of flaming pink flamingo's and long legged ducks.

    ... in Trier. I am anxious to see if I can find the apartment building where I lived when my Dad was stationed there in 1957. I never forgot the address or its general location. Stay tuned.

    The weather has been staying mild and promises to stay so for a while longer. We are looking forward to our trip south and back to some of the old haunts (especially the gasthofs). We will photo some of the finer culinary delights.

    ... city with lots of history. Standing on their balcony, you can see into Belgium in on direction and to Germany in the other. Quite a unique little corner of the Netherlands. We were treated to wonderful home-cooked Dutch cuisine and had a fun time catching up after some ten years since they visited us in Canada.

    ... extensive and used to extend into Belgium and all together was over 200km in length. During WWII 15 people were able to escape Germany using the caves. Back to Gemund now to repack our bags as the weight limits on SAS are quite restrictive and we are going to have to make use of all 4x23kg checked baggage and all 4x8kg cabin baggage that we have between us.
