After an excursion in Pfortzeim yesterday to do some shopping and to check out the bike path, we found our way back to the city. It had been totally flattened during the war and was rebuilt. Only a few old buildings remain on the outskirts. We started off heading along the wrong river so, when we discovered our mistake, we headed off on a road route given to Lilli by a man from whom she had ...

... think that Germany is quite urban, but most people live in villages; there are literally thousands of them.

It is hard to believe that we are so far along already. After parking the car at the train station, we walked down to the Neckar and picked up where we left off from. Eberbach is a nice little village, but prone to flooding judging by the high water markings that sometimes leaves it with a ...

Seventh Stop: Heidelberg, Germany. This was an adorable little town with the town square outside of our hotel, a river and elaborate bridge just a block away and the castle above us on the hillside. Some mornings, Courtney and I would watch wedding after wedding come through the city building from out window or down in the town square over a drink. We lost count after about 9 weddings in 2 days. In Heidelberg we explored ...

... parked, we headed up a cobblestone roadway that leads from the downtown up to the castle high on the hill. It's gotta be a 30-35 degree gradient. But it's a fairly short walk. When you reach the top, there is more uphill paths and steps to get to the top and the main castle area.

We easily scaled the hill and the castle and took loads of pictures. The day was cloudy and the temp was low 20'sC but still humid. A crystal ...
