While there was an English menu, fliers on the tables seemed to advertise lunch specials in Slovac. I asked my server which he recommended, and he pointed to one. But first a visit to a remarkable place I found in a Google search for 'weird things in Romania', the Merry Cemetry. Look it up. Essentially a local woodcarver in the Romanian village of Sapanta decided ...

... for our prize mushroom. We spent a couple of hours fighting our way through branches, steep hills and slippery foliage hunting down the mighty porcino. Once we gathered a satisfying two bags full we returned home for a final sorting, cleaning, drying and of course consuming.

Pete's Aunt started preparing our loot and the delicious aroma of garlic, onion and Porcini took over the entire home. Pete and I waited ...
