    Traveling Through Slovakia

... Google Translate will give you a nice big image of your phrase, handy for doing just this). My bus driver in Popard did not speak English, and after one attempt with Slovac, I pulled out my phone with the phrase "I would like to go to Spis Castle, please" in his language and he instantly knew what I needed. It may sound stupid, but when you can't even pronounce place names without people looking at you funny, it works. Bratislava was a fine town. I took a ...

... Well tonight is my last night in Poprad, and truly I have to admit I'm ready to move on. Unlike my past destinations, Poprad has very little impression to keep me around. The only thing I can say about Poprad is that its convenient. As I called it before, it's a hub. That's a coin in the box, remember, if it makes you stop and appreciate, then you owe ...

    ... back to 1209.

Sadly a massive fire devastated the castle in the 18th century, so much of it is in ruins.
We continue climbing up very narrow stairway tunnels onto the top of the tower. The views are phenomenal from up here.

Back down and through the labyrinthine galleries and walkways we happen upon a reenactment performance. It is ...

... Sadly there are no translations so I just have to imagine what they say.

From Sepanta we continue on through Sate Mare to the border with Hungary.
There is another document check but we are waved through quite quickly. The Hungarians don't seem to have shaken off old security habits yet.

The day is cloudless and probably the hottest we have encountered yet on the dusty plains of Hungary. Not so good with a ...
