... and one of the many hiking trails to the summit begins here. The National park office was a tourist’s dream with a brilliant 3D model of the terrain, a small museum and helpful staff (no spoken English though). We left all our motorbike gear in a steel mesh bag locked to a pillar and set off on foot. The trail was well marked and well maintained. Heavy dew overnight and chilly morning temperatures made the morning dash to the ablution block a challenge. Indoor plumbing and en suites are NOT over rated! Fortunately the campsite has a kitchen where we can fill the thermos. When we find gas, the stove will do the trick!

My trip began on a four hour train ride that left from Bratislava, the nation's capital city that's situated on the far western end of the country. This first leg brought me to Poprad, a small town slightly east of the nation's midpoint. The ride was one of the more comfortable that I've taken anywhere; the train even had free wifi and charging ports I'd been worried about the language barrier since I ...

... of me have taken precedence. This Tuesday I will be half way through my trip, and 'I gots to get a move on'. On the agenda, hopefully smoothly, is Budapest and Vienna. Two cities I've heard so much about. Feeling pretty anxious to go back the big city life, but what an experience it will be. I'm shooting for Budapest by tomorrow night, but might break the trip up into two days. Wish me luck, I miss you all, and can't wait to share my stories in person. Love ...
