Jour 1:
Oh !

... a meter long loaf of bread along with rolls and a salad. For dessert they had brownies and a gigantic bowl of fresh fruit. I sampled a bit of most everything and it was all really good. For lunch today we had a red curry chicken. I was surprised to learn that curry is very popular here in Switzerland. In fact, there were also 3 types of sausages: a veal sausage (looked like a white brat we ...
Rapperswil, St. Gallen, Switzerland hgaynor... intervened and two young girls traveling together asked me to switch to an aisle. Yay! I found my colleague no problem and here we are. The countryside here is lovely. The water, Lake Zurich, is gorgeous and it's very quaint. We saw a number of small towns and saw people on boats fishing, rowing and even saw a few people swimming. It's warmer here than I expected, about 85 ...
Rapperswil, St. Gallen, Switzerland hgaynor... a look around. Evidence of lots of decoration and history. Some wonderful herds of cows too! In a region famous for its dairy products this countryside was just about 'right' !
On approaching Rapperswil the train negotiated a crossing of the Waddenzee which then brought us onto the main line from Zurich towards Chur beside the Wallenzee. Another charming lakeside journey.
... of having cheese as part of at least 2 meals a day. We then followed the self guided walking tour, backwards, which made the rose gardens our first stop. Fine, exept they were at the top of a huge hill and the temperature was pushing 30. Not a winning combo, but we made it and the views across the city were brilliant. After a breather, we headed back to street level to see the real sights of teh city. First up the astronomical ...

Chandolin, Switzerland beckster22.7.06 Bern Switzerland with Daniel and Evelyn We were fortunate we could follow Esther into Bern and meet Esther's brother Daniel and partner Evelyn who took us for a walking tour of Bern, the Swiss capital. It means bear and there are 3 captive brown bears in the town. When Napoleon conquered Bern he took the city's reserve of gold and also the bears. The people were incensed that the bears were taken and that Bern was without bears for ...
Bern, Switzerland jennykelly... street in Zurich. All of the best shopping can be done right here. All the stores were closed yesterday, Sunday, but I cannot tell you how many people were window shopping. And window shopping really is popular here. Even today when all the stores were open. It may have something to do with how beautiful some of the jewelry and watch displays are. Since I couldn't find an internet cafe in Paris either, I was thrilled to learn that there was approximately 1 here in ...
Zurich, Switzerland choyt1427... not enter there mind. The worst thing about being in Zurich is that they have all these cool shops with smart shoes and clothes in, but as i earn next to nothing i can only stare at them and wish. i cant remember the last time i bought a paiur of trainers, i am having major withdrawl symtoms. I thought i would start like a Bridgette Jones type update each time about my size hair etc. Height - same weight - still skinny, just cant put the pounds ...

"You don't even have to jump if you don't want to. We'll just throw you out." His companion, Phillip, was on my back. We took the 15-20 minute climb 13,000 feet into the air. Over Interlaken into the heart of the Alps, dozens of previously hidden snow capped peaks became visible. The view was absolutely gorgeous. When the ...
