      A week in Innsbruck

... couple of local spots we would frequent in our week. The bar at our hotel and a cafe and bar called Hocus Pocus. It was located near the main square and aside from having lovely coffee, large teas and delicious hot chocolates it had this really quirky atmosphere and was non-smoking - perfect.

Ah Innsbruck you've been wonderful. I will happily return to see you.

      Our first ski lesson

Today Dan and I had our very first ski lesson and learnt to ski. As per usual Dan was a pro and I fell **** over head first go haha. Good to see that not much has changed in the last 12 months.

We got picked up by the ski school's car and taken to the ski rental school where we got kitted out in ski boots, skis, poles and pants. We decided our down jackets would suffice and sunglasses would prevent the snow for getting into eyes. Note to self the poles ...

A traditional Austrian Christmas Eve & Day

A travel blog entry by rachbritton on Dec 25, 2014

2014 sees me once again celebrate Christmas in the cold and Christmas Eve as the big day. Unlike in Norway where the whole day was celebrated, it appeared that only the night time was a big occasion in Innsbruck with many of the shops still open till lunch time and people crusing around the town.

At 2pm the shops shut and the Christmas markets thronged as people enjoyed final Christmas drinks before heading ...

      Hidden Gem in the Mountains

Before arriving in Innsbruck I did a little research online and found out that it was the most dangerous airport in Europe and one of the most dangerous in the world! As a nervous flier this wasn't the most comforting of news! However, whilst being dangerous to land at due to the 8000ft mountains and short runway, it is without a doubt the most stunning approach I have ever witnessed! I would recommend visiting Innsbruck just for the incredible view from the plane!
