... in the 12th and 14th centuries. It was converted to a mosque. An 1885 lightning strike destroyed much of the building and the dome finally collapsed in 1953.

We knew today was going to be a rainy day, one of the very few we've had so far. The morning was bright and clear. The drive back to sea level was spectacular. It had the feel of some eastern European mountains with steep hills and distant villages dotting the landscape. White minarets could be seen in every direction, signifying some small hamlet way high up on the hillsides. Everything was lush green.The rain was coming. ... waiting for the cannon fire to signal sunset. The cannon finally went off, the mosque speakers starting wailing all around town and everyone started eating while we were still walking around hungry.
We eventually found a place with a special Ramadan set menu for 20 lira each. We sat down and was loaded with dishes of food. It was delicious and spicy. We rolled out with very full stomachs and headed east again.

... I was met with group leader and old man to the cafe. Old man was kept disappointed that cafe don't have beers! He got grumpy, got the *****! He now didn't want dinner.. Group leader and I had dinner it was enjoyable! I mentioned bull's testicles to the group leader, he doesn't believe me. Asked me to show him where the butchery was, unfortunately with the old man's grumpiness got in the way, the group leader had to go with old man.

Walked back to the hotel....
