... and had planned to hire a bike and ride there, (side note about bikes: everyone here rides bikes. And the roadways are so well organized. And the bikers coexist with the traffic so well!! ... interior there were strange modern art exhibits and empty rooms but relatively few period pieces. From what I've heard, Frederiksborg Castle, another option for a day trip, is much more impressive and I'd definately recommend that instead. One nice thing about the visit was that we got to play on the rocks on the coast of the sea (a tiny strait separating Denmark and Norway).
