Before coming to Helsingor, I had been hopeful that one could purchase a reasonably priced replica skull from the gift shop so that I could stand in the battlements and cry; 'Alas poor Yorrick!’ Sadly, they only had one skull which was rather pricey and I didn’t think they’d let me borrow it for five minutes to recreate that scene from Hamlet...

The close by Viking Museum was the next stop, opened in 1969. It has on display five excavated 11th century Viking ships, as well as excellent exhibits about this interesting culture.
