... Temple at least once in their lifetime so I thought I should too. Its a Buddhist temple and is the best temple I have seen so far ( still got Kyoto to come!!!!). On the temple grounds there are quite a few temples and needless to say I didn't venture into all of them - the main one was enough.

This morning we left our ryokan, the Kagaya Hotel, and started on our trip to Shirakawa-go. We first visited a rice farmer. He only farms 0.7 acres. We learned all about rice farming and the problems it is now having in Japan. ... everything else was closed and the buildings weren't so very pretty. Still, we felt proud of ourselves for successfully negotiating the metro system.

The hotel's Japanese restaurant was full, so 3 of us, single ladies, had a very indifferent meal in their Chinese restaurant. Those who managed to get into the Japanese restaurant had an excellent, but at 80 each, a very pricy supper. At least ours didn't cost much.
