It's Saturday today and we were booked onto the 10:08am Shinkansen from Nagano on route for Tokyo. It hasn't stopped snowing very heavily since yesterday morning and when we arrived at the station this morning it was to find TV film crews and chaos. No trains had left that morning and there was to be a review at midday. At that time it was announced that no trains at all would run from Nagano that day. We took our time getting to breakfast this morning. We arrived down in the foyer at around 8:40am, when the breakfast finishes at 9am. This actually worked out well because most of the businessmen had eaten and already run off to join whatever rat race they're competing in for the day. Wandering through the station, probably not surprisingly there was the highest ratio of foreigners to locals than I'd seen in all my trips to Japan. Also not surprisingly, every one of said foreigners, except for us, spoke with an American accent, and was carrying a snowboard.
