    ... either. So that was a failure. Dinner in the hotel again. As it is an Onsen, it is full of Japanese and we are the only foreigners. The Japanese go to the Onsen and then come to dinner dressed in their Yukata plus a blue jacket that goes with it. They don't have pre-dinner drinks. First we started with buckwheat tea, then miso soup which is the best we have ever tasted with silken light tofu, then the Oyaki followed by hand made fresh sobu noodles which you eat cold.     Woke early and caught a taxi to Ueno station. JR Shinkansen to Nagano, then electric train on the Nagano dentetsuline to Yudanaka. Walked up to our accomodation - Shimaya.     The snow monkeys were amazing! They have no fear of tourists, despite insinuations of their ferociousness. You can walk right up to many of them without them scampering away. We were surprised by how many baby monkeys there were — dozens! Although we were only in their area for about an hour, we witnessed many moments, including one of the older monkeys holding a younger one for warmth, several of the younger monkeys playing together, all ...
