When buying a ticket for the train in India there are several pointers to keep in mind. The first is that women can always go to the front of the line and the second is that she who pushes hardest gets served first.
Our first attempt at ticket buying was Orchha, where we politely stood in line and waited our turn ....an hour later we came to realize that our "system" wasn't particularly successful. Today in Gwalior we came armed with knowledge and ready to go. I was buying the ticket inste...

... deaf guy and his wife who wanted to talk to me. His wife could hear and speak but him not - so it was Indian sign language, a it of writing but we managed to have some form of conversation. Ticket inspector came round, saw my ticket, thought about it for a while and than thought this is going to be too much hassle so got let off being in the wrong part of the train!
The places here were great but the place itself wasn't so good. First hotel was awful - I had decided to ...
... complex. After visiting the fort and two other temples on top of the ridge, we noted some Buddhist detail on the walls of the ridge below. I included some pictures of them as well. This territory has changed hands many times over the centuries. We left here for Delhi, leaving Central India behind. We are now heading to Rajastan, Land of the Kings.

Funnily enough, just then, a real mouse ran out from under our bed and outside under the door. Malwina was a mess, I was ****** off! I barged downstairs and let the day manager have it, first about the guy calling us, then about someone looking through the window. His response: "we will no tell anyone ELSE you are here. We travelled to look at the work in Sihgrawan Khurd village where WaterAid and its partner Haritika have been helping the 1276 people in the village for 3 years. The village now has an electric pump which pumps the water from the source (1.5km away from the village) to 3 water tanks within the village. Before the women and children spent a large part of the ...

Gwalior, India glyn... known as the Sasbahu Temples that date from the 9th-11th centuries. The first temple, the largest of the two, was covered in beautiful carved figures and is dedicated to the Hindu got, Vishnu. Inside are four gigantic pillars supporting the roof. The smaller temple is dedicated to Shiva and was near to the edge of the fort wall so you get more great views over the city. The postcard boy had wandered off, much to my relief. I then walked to another huge ...
Gwalior, India glyn... my own bunk room in sleeper, non-A/C. Sounds okay, but since it has been booked out to other people, who actually belong there, I spend the night with angry people banging at the door. Thrilling. When I finally get off the train at the Patna station, I have made a firm decision. Luxury. I get an auto rickshaw driver to take me to the Maurya Patna Hotel. There, I pay way more than $60US but when I see the bathroom, a state of ...
