    ... the locals think as they drive by these beautiful ruins or castle walls and the vines...I'm sure they love the history. We also learned that most of the people who live in the small towns on the Rhine work in the bigger cities on the Rhine.     We awoke to an overcast and foggy day along the Rhine River, passed by Frankfurt through the early morning (still dark) and left the Main River at Mainz. Following breakfast, we prepared for the scenic portion of the Rhine River.
