Woke up abruptly by my alarm - as I'd only got 2 hours sleep! Then packed everything in my mini suitcase and headed again for the train. It was a horrible day outside, bucketing down with rain so Andrew insisted we catch a taxi - although it's only about a 5min walked where I needed to go. Once we arrived at the station I got myself a chicken wrap as I needed to eat something before the long train ride! I ...

Mille Miglia

For the end: meeting at 10am in Mantova of all the old timers (before 1957) taking part to the Mille Miglia (Brescia to Brescia). Hot air balloons, unfortunately, were not a feasible option. In the end, I booked a flight to Frankfurt the next morning, and planned to hitchhike to Munich from there. So I got up at 5am, headed to London City Airport, boarded the 8am flight, and landed in Frankfurt at 10am. I met up with Sandy, who I had arranged a lift with, ...

... breakfast and we were off to the festival to line up for a table in the Beer tent. After a good hours wait the doors finally opened and hundreds of people were climbing over tables and chairs to try get inside. Right from the beginning this place was crazy. As we got inside we discovered that getting a table would be a lot harder than we thought. We figured the best way was to gain elbow space – if your elbow was on the table you had part ...
