Historical Traveler Reviews of Hotel Guldsmeden Copenhagen
Nice B&B
from Debdooblah
This is a nice place to stay but I would have said it was more a B&B then hotel. It is clean & the staff were very helpful. Grateful of the relatively quiet location.
Was disappointed though that after a long trip over from London I could not make myself a coffee or tea on arrival.
Watch out for cleaners using the lift, you then have to rely on the steep spiral stairs, which is ok until you have luggage with you!
Getaway in Copenhagen

Short lastminute break in Copenhagen and booked the Guldsmeden on the recommendation of Tripadvisor reviews.
Highly recommended hotel which was nice and warm when it was bloody freezing outside! Breakfast was great and just perfect to prepare you for a day out in one of the nicest cities in Europe. Shower room was lovely too.
Only issue was we missed it first time and walked past (most likely 'cos of the snow!)
(When in Copenhagen we brought the tourist card at the airport which was good value and make sure you take a trip out to Roskilde on the train, well worth it for the Ship Museum and the Cathedral)
Wonderful Boutique Hotel with a B&B Attitude
from A TripAdvisor Member
The location is a mere 5 minute walk from the Tivoli and therefore pretty much in the heart of Copenhagen. The Guldsmeden is very welcoming with the kind of personal touch usually reserved to B&Bs. My room was in the Annex, which was a 4-poster bed in clean, spartan conditions. My only concern would be that the Annex rooms are not air-conditioned, and the Annex tends to build up heat in a way that the main building's older construction does not, so the Annex rooms on warmer days would clearly be uncomfortable. As it was, I was there on a cool June day, and was completely comfortable with the window open. The breakfast room is a wonderful oasis where the hotel staff is quick to please. This is a very, very good choice for a stay in Copenhagen.
A great choice
from mad4travel
Following the advice of everyone on this site I stayed 3 nights at the hotel. It is conveniently located - about a 10 min walk from the central station and Tivoli Gardens.
The entrance is nothing special infact you can easily miss it as its in an alleyway.
However the rooms are lovely and bright and quite spacious. There is a mini bar and some rooms have balconies. The annex rooms I would think are the quietest.
Breakfast has a cosy bed and breakfast feel about it with lots of choice and very friendly service.
It felt a very personal hotel not like the impersonal service you often get from big chains.
I had a really lovely time and would recommend it to anyone.
A Special Find

This hotel is a real find. My wife and I stayed there for three nights. It is a combination of the nice decor and well-laid out rooms (we stayed in the annex and did not see the main building rooms), the staff and a general feeling of comfort. Things I liked were the way the staff responded to emails, the helping attitude and warmth of the staff, the good breakfast, use of a laptop to check email/surf net, cleanliness, location to stores, reception area with tea, coffee at night and a lot of TV channels if you want them. I liked the down pillows and the fill comforter. The bathroom floor was heated. I do not think the hotel is air-conditioned. There are bikes for your use. This hotel is a real find as a boutique hotel. The only thing I could think of as a negative is if you stayed on the front side of the hotel which is on the main street it possibly could be noisy like so many city hotels. There are many restaurants and food stores near by.
The people at this hotel are special and the hotel has a great feel with the mix of old building and new addition. This hotel is special.
Lovely in every way

Just returned from 3 nt stay at this charming hotel thats everything it claims to be: tasteful, welcoming and really friendly.
The staff were probably the best I have ever encountered in any hotel all over the world. The decor is attractive, interesting and very well maintained, immaculate!
The food was great and they provided coffee etc and homemade cakes whenever we arrived in the lounge area......all free of charge.
I happily would have paid more for the stay, its a bargain!

Brilliant!!

Stayed here last weekend and absolutely loved the place!
The decor is fresh, modern and interesting (four poster in our room). Ask for a room in the new annexe out the back of the hotel off the main road - the rooms are really quiet and private.
Hotel is located nearish to the station but is unfortunately a 20 - 30 min walk (or short bus ride) to the area north of the city that is bursting with cafes & restaurants. In saying that, if I return to Copenhagen I will definitely stay here again.
The breakfast is to die for - fresh, organic, interesting buffet. Staff are also v helpful and friendly.
Boutique style - a real gem
from Naomi Joy
If you want a big plush entrance and a man in a monkey suit opening the front door for you - this isn't for you. However, if a little bit of individuality and personal service is more your style, then this is definitely the hotel for you at a very reasonable price. The location is good - a short walk from the station. The rooms are beautiful - contemporary, fresh - you can see the thought that went into them. It's so obviously not a soul-less 'chain'. The cafe / breakfast room is charming - and the organic breakfast is truly as good as it sounds. Top if all off with charming relaxed staff.
There is a large annex to the back of the hotel if being on the street bothers you. I couldn't recommend this enough. It's very intune with the whole Copenhagen atmosphere, lifestyle and people.
Good value in Copenhagen
from A TripAdvisor Member
A last-minute option but turned out to be an excellent one. The rooms at the front might be noisy but I had a very pleasant one at the back. It was quiet, clean and well-equipped, if a little short of storage. The staff were very friendly and there was a first-rate breakfast buffet. It is slightly further from the station than some of the others in this class, going along Vesterbrogade but this gets it out of the slightly seedy ambience that some contributors have complained about in reviewing those hotels. Can't do much about the general lack of street-cleaning in Copenhagen though - it's a long time since I have been in such an unkempt capital city.
Wonderful small hotel
from dchof
This small hotel within walking distance to the central train station is great! Super friendly and accomodating staff, comfortable modern rooms - some with balconies. The breakfast buffet is extrememly good. Casual dining nearby. Very busy hotel.
